WeWriWar 391: Sun Kiss 14

Hello everybody!

Welcome to a new Sunday of writing with Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday!

You can find the snippet from the other participants in the blog hops in the Snippet Sunday facebook group and on the Weekend Writing Warrior's blog.

I have been gone for a while, truth be told I didn't feel comfortable participating since I didn't have time or energy to read the posts of the other participants. Things are better now so hopefully I'll be able to get by to my weekly Sunday Snippet and WeWriWar posts.

We're going back to Sun Kiss where we left off last time. Sun Kiss is a story about a girl who had a vampire crashing into her window and the story that follows:

“That’s a vampire in a pretty bad shape,” Daciana was saying all excited probably for the tenth time in a row.

She was the youngest of them, she had grown up in a flash and now she seemed not to have all her marbles.

Viorel had said it was temporary but Jane wasn't sure. Lab made demon blood had to be something to reckon with, even for a vampire.

At the same time, Jane might never live long enough to see Daciana act normally, while Viorel and the others had all of eternity to wait for it. When a vampire said temporary, it could be months or it could be decades, Jane wasn't sure and she didn't ask. The easiest thing to do was to stay away from Daciana and not to contradict her too much so that you didn't endanger yourself and her when she threw a tantrum. She had always been weird, even when she was little and she didn't mix well with others while she was unsealed, for obvious reasons.

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 405

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet?

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.

Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last time.

"And can I know what sort of information you managed to get out of him?"

"It seems that he is a lonely vampire. There won't be anyone out there looking for him," my guard said.

"I already knew that," Jorge said. "Open the door."

My guard took the rusty key chain at his side and concentrated too much on choosing the right key. He was slower than he should have been as if he wanted to buy me sometimes. Time for what? I didn't know but I still stood up. The key turned in the lock and the door opened wide. I jumped on the first guard entering the room. It wasn't the best move to prove to my guard that I wasn't a monster but one less of them meant more chances to get out for me. I managed to disarm him and to grab the pommel of his sword. I sliced the second guard in the middle and the arm of the first in one move. They shouldn't have brought such sharp swords in my cell. They both fell on the floor but the third one hit me at the back of the neck and I saw stars. The fourth one took my sword away while the light splashed in front of my eyes. When I recovered they were holding me tight. Two out of four was not a bad result and I smiled at Jorge.

Thursday Fiction 395: Parallel Slip 2: Rebel

Welcome back to a new Thursday Fiction, it's been a while. We continue with Parallel Slip 2: Rebel where we left of last time, following Isabelle as she figure out who she really is.

“I was nowhere,” Isabelle said.

I told you that some universes would make you sick, didn't I?” her mother said.

“Yes, you did but I wasn't anywhere. If you'd care about me being sick, you would be trying to help, instead of questioning me.”

“You have been lying twice tonight. The first time I let it passed but this time I won't.” Her mother said.

“Do you know how many times I have had a nose bleed in my life?”

Her mother didn't answered she just stood in the doorway staring. Isabelle shook her head making her headache worse and hoping that getting whatever the tracker was made of out of her brain didn't damage it in the process.

“Once, tonight, that's the one, and it's scary and if you really cared you'd know that.”

“I care, I know you consider that I am your enemy but I am your mother and I'm trying to do what's best for you, even if you can't see that,” her mother said, pretending to reach for her.

She had her hurt face on, the one she put on when she wanted to play the victim. It was all Isabelle's fault again for not seeing that whatever she was doing was so wrong, and hurting everyone, especially her poor mother.

“I'm sure Mike agrees with you,” Isabelle said as the blood leaked through the paper piece she had put in her nose. It was only the right nostril now, the same side as the bump on her wrist. She couldn't wait for her mother to leave, to get rid of it. She already felt her resolve vanning.

“He is a good man and he too wants what's best for you,” her mother said.
