Summary of the previous episodes:
Viorel has been tortured by his
supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely
enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of
who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left
Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a
previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The
little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole
and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but
nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi)
taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my
holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would
like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still
managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady
before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of
persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a
deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got
some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were
he stays a bit to learn German.

instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit
scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a
horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people,
he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to
enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a
feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain. We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape. Viorel
dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything.

by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was
looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's
agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other
side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel
discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest
thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas
might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to
leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who
needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.
Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last time.
"Get on his right,"
the heavy man said.
The lighter one moved
slowly closer to the edge of the roof. They wanted to get me on both
sides. The lighter man seemed ready to throw the net at me at the
first word of his companion. I continued to move toward the heavier
one on my belly, legs really low and bent, ready to jump, ready to
run, ready to make someone fall from the roof.
"He is coming for
you, but he is scared," the lighter man said.
"This things jump
high," the heavier one said preparing his piece of wood. It was
in front of his chest he could hit me if I was to jump but not so
easily if I stayed on the floor. I kept a good distance from
him.
"Get ready with
that, you'll almost there," the heavy man said.
It was true, the lighter
man could just throw away his net at me and I would have to run not
to get caught but he had trouble to stay steady on his legs.

I needed to fight close
enough to him not to give him a chance to swing his torture
instrument at me.
Then there was the second one, so light on his feet
that I could have missed him. He would be easier to take on but he
would also be faster than his companion. He would be the first I had
to take care of. I turned toward him slowly. He was wearing a net. My
wolf body walked backward. It was the instinctive reaction of a trapped
animal. I could feel the fear rising but I decided not to take it
into account. They were expecting me to work on instinct, they were
prepared for it so I had to work on brain instead. I didn't remember
fighting as a wolf but there was a time for everything. I had to kill
them, or they would turn into wolf too. That was the reason why
Alexei hadn't left anyone alive, because they would have turned into
something different, just like the new born vampires I had seen in
Praha, just like Jarek.
I moved toward the
heavier man, he was taking careful steps on the unsteady roof. Tiles
were slippery and with one bad move you could get down without a chance
to catch yourself. I walked toward him my belly low on the floor. All
my instincts were telling me to stand up and stick out my torso to show my strength but if that worked on animal it was surely not working on
humans. They had already carefully thought about their plans.

It was a bit different
for Jarek, he was constantly burned by the cross around his neck and
was running belly to the ground and taking his adversary from the legs
first. Once he was biting the legs he would cautiously turn around
his victim to avoid the stroke of the weapons on his back until his
victim fell to the floor. Then he went straight to the neck. That
was slower then Alexei's method but still effective and he only had
rare cuts and rare stains from his own blood on his back. He was leaking
the blood from the face of his last prey when Alexei jumped over him in a
long leap and landed back legs on the shoulders of the last Jäger
still standing. That was a spectacular move. I stood up to have a
better look at the Jäger's condition and heard a noise behind me,
then nothing but I wasn't stupid and I knew that I was no longer
alone on the roof.
I waited pretending that
I was too interested by the action of my four legged companions at
the bottom of the street to take care of the enemies on the roof but
my ears were waiting for them. There was two of them, the first one
was heavy and he hit his hand with a large piece of wood, I
would have recognised that noise everywhere.

The blood of the Jägers covered the street. Alexei and Jarek were at the door,
blocking the retreat of the Jägers who wanted to go back into the
church. If I had been them, I would have run as far away and taken
the other exit but there is always some kind of folly taking people
fighting against animals and that's what I was witnessing just now.
Three Jägers had arrived alerted by the cries of their fallen
companions. There was nothing that could be done for the mutilated
bodies of the men lying now dead on the ground but the three new
comers seemed to believe that they had a better chances of survival. After all, they out numbered the wolves. They were too slow.
The
first made signs to surround the animals but both his companion were
jumped on. Alexei didn't seemed to care much about the daggers or longer
swords the Jägers were using, he loaded frontal attacks after frontal
attacks getting superficial cuts in the process but nothing consequent
enough to stop him. He kept on pushing and pushing with all his
weight on his adversary's chess, cutting through the clothes and
tearing holes with is nails. He was strong as a man but as a wolf he
had also gained rapidity.

I climbed to the roof,
hidden from Alexei and Jarek by my wolf smell. I couldn't let them
know I was here. Being part wolf was one of my surprising advantage
against the Jägers and I was not ready to let it go. Alexei and
Jarek were doing the cleaning for me and I watched.
Alexei jumped on one of
the Jägers and bit his head on the side tearing apart half of his
face, breaking his skull into pieces. The blood flowed out one Jäger
tried to dig his dagger in Alexei's fur but Jarek was on the side and
grab on his leg just long enough for Alexei to turn around and slap
his front feet on the chest of the Jäger. He didn't let go of the
dagger but his last effort to rise it was too slow, Jarek was
already at his neck. Jarek grabbed him between his teeth and shook
his head. There was no way to stop them and I was grateful to be
smart enough not to try and far enough above not to count as one of
their prey. Alexei and Jared couldn't control themselves, they had to
kill, but I was sure they would remember in the morning because
Alexei had a reason to run away from Praha and it had to be the
multiple attacks in the city.

I wasn't sure that she
was going to be alright on her own. But I had to believe her
because I had things to do, so I jumped through the window and ran to
the door of the church we had left from just to find it opened and
Jägers all around it. It was a chance somehow, because the key was
in my trousers pocket and that as a wolf I didn't wear trousers.
I turned in the nearby
street. I needed and an isolated Jäger first. I spied on them but they
were all going around two by two. That was my bad luck. I hadn't
counted on Alexei and Jarek. They jumped on the priests faster than I
could have imagined. Jarek still had his silver cross hanging around
his neck and burning his fur and skin.
The two werewolves seemed
to be everywhere at the same time. It had taken three experiences
hunters with traps to catch Alexei alone in the wood. The Jägers
weren't experiences for such a hunt. Here was the center of the city
with barely any place to hide and there were two of them which nobody
seemed to have predicted.

and pushed the door open with my nose. Irina threw me a pillow and
pulled herself as far way from the door as she could which basically
meant only to have her head facing the wall. That was cute. I just
stayed there to look at her until she dared to open her eyes again.
"Viorel?" she
asked.
She had seen me in a wolf
shape before but maybe not enough to recognize me as a wolf in the
darkness of the room, with the blood and everything. I sat down and
she hugged me. I couldn't talk to her in this shape. So I barked to
get her to let me go. She walked out of the closet and she surprised
me. She pushed the table in front of the door and blocked the handle.
"You gotta go out
and I don't want anyone in," she said looking at me. "Just
go, I'm fine but we'll need to talk when you get back."

leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who
needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.
Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last time.
Alexei took a step
forward again. I looked at him in the eyes. He had to smell it on me,
that I wasn't human, that I was something else. Then I found it, the
hatred between his kind and mine, something that was going beyond the
transformation.
He jumped on me and my wolf form greeted him. We
rolled on the floor, away from the closet where Irina was hiding,
toward the window. He was back on his feet before me. He looked
at me. I wanted him out but I hadn't managed to push him out. I was
low on the floor ready to catch him jumping again, but he just sat and
howled to the moon and so I did the same and on the other side of the
church, Jarek, the new born werewolf responded and Alexei jump through
the window. He landed badly on the floor but caught himself and ran. All I could think of was how glad I was to have him run away and
not Jarek coming over. There had to be something in the calling but I
had no idea what it was.

Summary of the previous episodes:
Viorel has been tortured by his
supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely
enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of
who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left
Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a
previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The
little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole
and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but
nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi)
taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my
holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would
like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still
managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady
before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of
persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a
deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got
some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were
he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg
instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit
scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a
horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people,
he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to
enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a
feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain. We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape. Viorel
dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything.
Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued
by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was
looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's
agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other
side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel
discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest

possibly contain Alexei for too long. She hid with the bag tightened
on her chest.
"Stay here until I'm
back for you," I said giving her a pillow and a small blanket.
She didn't answer and I
closed the door. I wondered when everything had turned so wrong. If
that had anything to do with me hunting for the Jägers as if my life
depended on it, as if my revenge was on them and not on uncle Vlad, But as the wolf form of Alexei stood on four legs in front of me
growling, I realized that things had turned wrong the moment I had
hired a werewolf as a driver.
"Nice little doggy,"
I said looking at the wolf form of Alexei.
Just like Alexei was
taller and stronger than me in his human form, he was taller and
stronger in his fully recovered wolf form too.
He growled at me. I
needed to take him away from here, to take him away from Irina at all
cost. He took a step forward, cautiously but still showing me his
teeth. I took a step forward too. My daggers were still at the
church. I had no other options. I took my shirt off.

I placed the bottle of
salt under his nose again. The hair growth continued. I was in front
of my own transformation process in slow motion. It was hard to
watch. His body torn, his bones shrinking in some area, extending in
others. I adjusted the bed-sheet rope around him and monitored his
heart beat. It was accelerated but not as much as I remembered mine to be during the transformation. His face was the last to change, his
teeth grew back. All the teeth the Jäger had broken were back
and I realized he was healing while changing into is wolf
form. He opened one eye to look at me and there was no recognition in
his eyes.
"Irina, open the
curtains, open the window and get in the closet," I said
quickly.
"What?"
"Hurry," I
said.
She didn't ask anymore
questions.
