Tantalizing Tuesday 6: The Bayards' house

Hi guys and welcome to a new  Tantalizing Tuesday and you can find the list of participants here.

This time I'm sharing the beginning of a never finished old WIP called "The Bayards' House", I really mean to finish this one but it seems there is always something more pressing to write. Anyway, I should get back to it at some point. Sedana is a secondary character from Demon Soul in the Demon Series and Attic Mirror. This time, this book is more about his story.

Sedana yawned and put his feet on the floor, one after the other. It was so dark in the bedroom that he couldn’t even see them.
His hand fumbled on his night table to get his magic wand. He grabbed and shook it to get some light but nothing came out. He shook it more energetically wondering once more why they couldn’t use their electricity to have light in the morning like normal people.
The first time he had visited his friend's place everything had seemed so marvelous to him especially that they didn’t have to worry about being in the dark.
Nothing came out of his wand again. He stroked the wand in his messy dark hair, generally static electricity help it to awake up in the morning. With a little bit of spit, the light finally came out.
Sedana got up yawning once more and walked to the door. He opened it and pulled the switch on the right side. It was pretty much looking like a switch to turn on the light but a noise of something sliding on rail could be heard. Sedana hit his leg with his free hand impatiently. Why did it always have to be so slow?

Tantalizing Tuesday 5: Witch Raising: The book of Fire

Hi guys and welcome to a new  Tantalizing Tuesday and you can find the list of participants here.

This time I'm sharing a randomly picked paragraph of Witch Raising: The book of Fire. Witch Raising is the last draft I have been working on and it turns out that it'll be a side series of the Demon series instead of just one book part of it.

Brownie wondered how many time she had been in a train or trains from coast to coast.
“Basically that's what most tourist take, you know, lot of places to see that you never though about before meeting someone in the previous city, stuff like that,” the lady said.
If that meant she could take whatever train on the way even if she missed one, that was way better than running half awake at 1.32 in the morning. She could have chosen Samircity but still something made her decide to go to Evergreen Stop.
“Alright then, I guess that's one open ticket to Evergreen Stop,” Brownie said.
The lady smiled, asked for money and printed her ticket. It was a really simple ticket with places for at least 15 stamps it came with a list of train that could be taken and a list of forbidden train, a limit date and a map of the railway. She was going to cross the entire country west to Evergreen Stop which was the closest city to Evergreen but wasn't part of it.
“I need to copy your passport,” the lady said. “Just to make it case Evergreen authority ask about you when you cross the border, they seldom do, but it can happen.”
Brownie gave her her passport. It was weird because technically her ticket didn't even have her cross the border. Maybe everyone going to Evergreen Stop never stopped there but always continued to Evergreen. That was a funny thought since the place was called Evergreen Stop. The lady came back with her passport and asked her to sign the copy as a prove of identity to make sure the signature was the same. She gave her the ticket, her change and her passport back and that was it. The next train was leaving in less than fifteen minutes and the lady pointed vaguely toward the dock and wished her a good trip.

Tantalizing Tuesday 4: Witch Raising: The book of Fire

Hi guys and welcome to a new  Tantalizing Tuesday and you can find the list of participants here.

This time I'm sharing a randomly picked paragraph of Witch Raising: The book of Fire. Witch Raising is the last draft I have been working on and it turns out that it'll be a side series of the Demon series instead of just one book part of it.
Brownie closed the box. It was getting heavier. She let it fall on the bed. The lid turned open and the books started to flow out. She should have been a bit more specific. But there was so much to learn before diving into someone else's mind and so much she didn't know.
The first time she had done it, she had been totally unprepared. She had done it under the guidance of Sahel's dark shadow which had been a foolish idea since he was evil. Thinking about it now, she realised how desperate that made her. She knew nothing about what she was doing but she had to save Sahel's life so she had taken the plunge. There was no other way or maybe there had been but none that she wanted to think about. Then she had learned more, just in case she had to do it again but in the end she still knew very little. She really could have died, she would have if Seti's sister hadn't come around to help her, they would all have died, her, Kallisto and Seti.
It was exhilarating and frightening still, she knew she would do it again if she had to, just because she was the only one who could but also because she didn't care all that much about dying by magic. Not that she wanted to die but if she really had to..

Tantalizing Tuesday 3: Vampire Heart

Hi guys and welcome to a new  Tantalizing Tuesday and you can find the list of participants here.

This time I'm sharing a little bit of Vampire Heart. It's further in the story than we ever reached on Vampire Friday but since I'm in the snow at the moment, I thought it would be appropriate.

 Photo taken by me today.

The wolves howled outside. They were gone to the forest, Alexei and Jarek. Alexei somehow knew what he was doing, they were far away enough not to come back for the people in the inn. I had warned them about wolves that we had seen on the way. And I had warned the people in the inn that my two men would be standing outside in watch for the night but that they should be ready.

The inn keeper had tried to laugh me off but Irina had told him that if he wanted to stay alive a little bit longer he had to be careful tonight as wolf had already killed people in the south. That was too much information for my taste, the man didn't need to know we were coming from the south but he still locked the door and the wooden curtains on the ground floor's windows. Everything was ready.

Whatever was to happen here tonight had nothing to do with me anymore. I had an appointment with couple of dragons and a ravaged church library. I jumped through the window and landed on the ground covered with a thick blanket of snow, that stopped the sound of my fall from getting to the ear of undesired people, and I ran.

Tantalizing Tuesday 2: Sun Kiss

Hi guys and welcome to a new  Tantalizing Tuesday and you can find the list of participants here.

This time, we continue with Jane who is having a hard time studying.

Efforts always ended up paying in the end. She wondered if she should go back to the kitchen to warm up her tea but decided that was useless it was going to turn cold again anyway before she starts to drink it again, maybe getting that usb-cup warmer wouldn’t be a bad thing after all.
She started to read again, pen in hand when a huge thing came crash on her window. She jumped of her sit almost making her cup fall on her notes. She was used to have birds crashing on the window during the day each time that the curtain were removed for washing but that was different. It was night already.
She took a deep breath to calm herself down, that was probably an owl. That could only be an owl anyway. She walked to the window to see if the bird wasn’t hurt, there was a trace of blood she could see that a hand add slide down on the window. She opened the window slowly, not really reassured but she knew that some of the vampires of the house were able to flight to the second floor without too much problem.

Tantalizing Tuesday 1: Sun Kiss

Hi guys and welcome to a new Blog Hop. It's called Tantalizing Tuesday and you can find the list of participants here
Every week I have multiple Blog Hops on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, where I share snippet of my novels following each other so you can have longer stories. For this new Blog Hop however, I will be sharing random snippets of unfinished novel. If there is one you like best, feel free to let me know to have more of it.

Jane had been bent over the Latin text for more than half an hour now and it just started to make sense. She was going through it one more time methodically, underlining the words in each case with a different color.
“I really need to finish that now, ” she thought looking at the big clock on the wall in front of the desk.
It was almost three in the morning and she had one hour left before going to bed. She took a deep breath, sometimes being a polyphasic sleeper was annoying. But at least she was able to do more things than anybody she knew. Once again she needed to want doing them but that wasn’t the point here. She had lots of things to prove to herself and understanding Latin in a record time was one of them. Arthur Rimbaud did it before so there was no reason why she couldn’t. That’s why she was trying to read the Aeneid just like he did.
She took a sip of her tea, it was cold. Her tea was always getting cold before she thought about drinking it. She had so much to think about. She reread the first sentence and smiled that was it.
