THE BOOK OF FIRE Snippets List

Welcome to the snippets of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire.
The Book of Fire is book 5.1 in the Demon Series and book one in the Witch Raising series. It's part of two series because it continues Brownie's adventures just after Fairy World but it takes her into her own initiatic journey of self-discovery.

Brownie has had enough. Enough of not knowing what her future holds, enough of being told not to use magick even when her magick saves the day, enough of dealing with Sahel being worried and overbearing, enough of being told that everything she knows about herself is wrong. She doesn't say goodbye to anyone, and she leaves as if she is running for her life, and maybe she is. She takes the train across the country to go meet a witches' coven who she hope might help her with the half baked spell she still feels hanging above her head. But the trip isn't peaceful, in the first city, demons are waiting...

Tuesday Travel 189: Witch Raising: The Book of Earth 36

Welcome to Tuesday Travel. This week we are following Brownie on her journey as she is going toward the second element: Earth.

About Witch Raising.

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start right where we left off last time.

Brownie hadn't notice how tall the other girl was until now, almost a full head above her but Brownie was staring right back up at her.

“I'm not a maniac, I didn't do it on purpose,” Daphy said.

One of her teeth was slightly in front of the other, it was a bit distracting when being in a staring contest.

“And I didn't ask for you to come here, I didn't ask for any of this either,” Brownie said. “Fact is on purpose or not, you could have killed me, and even more ridiculous, you're not even sorry about it. You didn't learn that casting spell on people without their consent is bad and you even call me a bitch for almost dying.”

“Yeah because you're a bitch,” Daphy said. “Instead of calmly explaining what was going on you just jumped at my throat.”

“I almost fucking die,” Brownie said.

“It was a fucking dream,” Daphy answered.

Mystery Monday 186: Murder at the Conference 83

Hello mystery lovers and welcome to a new Mystery Monday.

I hope you had a great week-end. Here is a new little part of Murder at the Conference. Murder at the Conference is a stand alone sequel to Harajuku Kiss.

We start right were we left off last week:

She didn't have a boyfriend and she was a bit clueless and she really wanted someone. I believed she gave me advice to help me make the most of my relationship, make it last.

But the more I thought about it, the less healthy it got. She wanted A boyfriend, not a special guy she really liked, nope, just A boyfriend it didn't matter who he was.

She explained to me this three dates business they have in the US. You have to go out with a guy three times and if you accept to go out with him three times, on the third date you are expected to have sex and sort of rush into the relationship. That drove me a bit nuts. I had been to dinner with guys many times, way more than three times before deciding anything. I also had lunch with friends without it meaning anything more.

I realized that in her eyes, I was some sort of s player. It made her mad if I went out with male friends without my boyfriend around and she told me I was a bad girlfriend.

About Harajuku Kiss

At times, life can be so depressing. She is walking her usual recovery tour in Harajuku, finishing with a crepe, tying to forget that her boyfriend dumped her once again for the week-end... When the unthinkable happens... A boy stops in front of her in the street and kisses her, in to discover more about him, she is dragged into a dangerous game of mystery. A biologist has been murdered and a deadly virus is on the loose. First suspect: the mysterious Harajuku's stranger.

Thursday Fiction 390: Parallel Slip 2: Rebel

Welcome back to a new Thursday Fiction, it's been a while. We continue with Parallel Slip 2: Rebel where we left of last time, following Isabelle as she figure out who she really is.

Isabelle put the pendent in her left hand and concentrated to grabbing all the little details of it in her mind. Finally, after a few minutes, she manage to feel her pulse in her hand. Then a wave propagated inside her finger tips.

“I'm in, it's true your world is all different,” Nanurah said. “Let me take care of your little problem first.”

The wave propagated along Isabelle's arm as if a circle passed true her arm to scan it. It reached her shoulder and became bigger as her heart rate increased. It moved down her body, so slowly that Isabelle didn't notice it has moved until it reached her stomach. It was pushing the blood down and her heart rate become erratic. She tried to breath slowly through her nose but that wasn't helping. She was feeling vaguely faint. Then the circle decreased again to go through one leg and the blood at least partially came back up and her head cleared a bit. But still nothing felt weird or out of place. She wondered if the tracker was really something in her body.

“It is!” Nanurah-Isabelle said. “It's full of little pieces. I'm sorry I made you uncomfortable but I need to go everywhere to make sure it's all gone.”

The circle moved back up her leg and down the next. It was a strange feeling but it wasn't all that bad. Not like having Clara inside of her. She still couldn't believe how vulnerable and exposed she had felt.
