Welcome to Tuesday Travel. Every Tuesday, I will be presenting an excerpt of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire, the book in which Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul, is undertaking an initiatory journey.
Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.
The excerpt, we start where we left off last week
They walked toward the cave and passed in front the second hostel Brownie had visited the day before, the old woman was sitting outside on a chair with her knitting work on her knees and she seemed asleep. Brownie looked at the other side of the street. The other old woman who had been arguing with her was sweeping the floor with an old broom.
"Wait a minute," Brownie said crossing the floor.
Josh took a second to follow her.
"Excuse me," Brownie said. "Would you know where I could find some incense?"
"What incense do you need?" The old woman said. "There are plenty at the temple."
Brownie looked at her straight in her face to try an gauge her reaction.
"I need moon incense for..."
"Don't tell me what it's for," the woman reply.
She pushed a black door so hidden in the black wall of what seemed to be her store that Brownie nor Josh had realized it was there.
The followed her inside. The place was dark as a heavy black curtain was obscuring the only window. Brownie rose an eyebrow at it.
