Tuesday Travel 4: Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Welcome to the first Tuesday Travel post. Every Tuesday, I will be presenting an excerpt of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire.

About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

“Did you have a nice sleep?”
Sahel was lying next to her and looking at her. If he was here, everything was fine. Brownie closed her eyes again. She didn't want to forget the feeling of the night but as she try to put herself back there, she couldn't find the light, she couldn't find her core, she had lost it once again.
“You know you slept for three days, are you hungry?”
She opened her eyes again, glad to see that someone had closed the curtains, she didn't remember if she had bother. She was wearing pajamas now, she knew she hadn't bothered putting them on.
“Yes,” she said and cough.
Her mouth was dry and her throat too.
“Thirsty,” she said in a rasping voice.
Three days without water, heu, would she have died of dehydration if it had been more? She felt fine though, better than she had been in a long time.
Sahel handed her a glass of water.
“Do you want to go down for breakfast or...”
“I'll come down but I need a shower,” Brownie said.
“Ok,” Sahel answered. He kissed her forehead and left the room.
This was his was not to rush her while still letting her know that they needed to talk. As usual, every time she used magic, he didn't like it. She should have been at home and safe but there was nothing safe here, not anymore. She felt the anger tickling in her chest. Lately all she was able to be when thinking about Sahel was angry. She was tired of always be wrong no matter what she did.
