About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

"The girl has a point," the girl answered.
"What's your name?" The other one asked.
"Brownie," Brownie answered.
"I'm Marri, with too "r"s, this is Sandy and her boyfriend Samuel, and this is..." She even didn't know the name from the guy from the train station.
"I'm Josh," he said smiling with all his teeth reminding Brownie of the wolves behind the sweetest smile she had been talking about earlier, not reassuring.
"He's Josh," Marri with two "r"s answered.
"And I say we go for the stew now because tomorrow they are going to start serving the watered down tourist version," Josh said.
He also had a point.
"Maybe we can find a vegetarian version," Brownie answered.
"I like her," Sandy said. "Are you vegetarian too?"
"No," Brownie said.
In her life, there was more meat and pancakes than any vegetables. It was just the way she had a sweet tooth and Sahel needed the protein and the blood and... she had to think about something else. "But I don't mind eating vegetable only dishes."
"We are going to change you into a real vegetarian by the end of the festival," Sandy said walking toward her and passing her arm around Brownie's shoulder.
Brownie almost jumped out of her skin at the contact. Someone was way too close, way too much in her private space. She didn't like being so close to strangers but she grid her teeth and smiled trying to be polite. It would be impossible to change her into a vegetarian but she guessed trying different food wouldn't hurt.
"I don't think that's a good idea," Samuel said pulling Sandy away from Brownie.
