About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire
Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.
The excerpt, we start where we left off last week
Little demons were
running in the corridor, probably the one Dylan had been babysitting.
This house was getting more and more crowded with rescued children of
all species by the minute. Brownie put her back to the wall to let
them pass, they couldn't see her, it would be weird if they bumped
into her. Yobi was with them, he slowed down in front of her and she
took a deep breath hoping he wouldn't say anything. He just pulled
his tongue at her and run off. That was one more danger out of the
way. If Yobi were to tell everyone something weird was going on with
her and got someone to listen, there would be a storm in the house
before she was able to leave.
People were hanging
around everywhere, saying hello, asking her if everything was ok. At
first, it felt as if it was written on her forehead that she was
going out surely because that was the only thing in her mind. But
then she realized that what they really cared about was if she was
all right after the big spell she had put out and the three days
sleep. She was alright, she still felt slightly weak and hungry but
she was rather fine.
“Sahel stayed with you
the all three days, he was supposed to go get a girl in the demon
world but the other went without him,” Grenadine said.
Brownie didn't know if
she should feel guilty or not, for stopping Sahel from going to yet
another rescue mission. She knew what demons over there were capable
of.
“Did they bring her
back?” She asked.
“She is with Kelpie and
she is nuts, Isakael has a containment plan,” Grenadine said.
Brownie sighed at least
they could manage without her and Sahel.
“Would you come with
me?” She said locking her arm in Grenadine's “Girl talk.”
“Yeah, it's been a
while,” Grenadine answered.
The walked to her
bedroom. Brownie knew that she couldn't really say anything,
especially to Grenadine who was always ready to gossip around and run
her mouth but it was good to have a sister around. Grenadine took a
sit on the bed and Brownie felt Dylan's box on her desk and pulled
her largest backpack out of the closet.
“Going somewhere?”
Grenadine asked.
