Tuesday Travel 135: Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Welcome to Tuesday Travel. Every Tuesday, I will be presenting an excerpt of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire, the book in which Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul, is undertaking an initiatory journey.

About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

"Just give me a minute," Brownie said.

"No, just open the door, you aren't doing magic without me," Josh said.

"Seriously, give me a minute or I'll change you into a frog," Brownie said. That was the curse she used against her little siblings when they were being too noisy and surprisingly, it worked on Josh too. Brownie wasn't sure what to think of it.

One thing was sure, Samantha and Josh were both stressing her out because they didn't know what they were getting into, or what they were talking about and they still talked about it as if magic was natural. Samantha had all those supplies that were unusable because she had unknowingly ruined them which maybe was a good thing. Brownie wasn't sure. All she knew was that even when she didn't know what she was doing she was way more careful with the magical power given to her or not, and way more humble in front of the goddess. Even with all the mistakes she made, she wasn't trying to pretend that she would make it work when she had no idea. She fished Dylan's box at the very bottom of the safe, hidden under Viorel's bag of food and took a deep breath. This had better be worth it. She pulled on the strings and it opened to a black interior, the box was empty.
