Tuesday Travel 9: Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Welcome to the first Tuesday Travel post. Every Tuesday, I will be presenting an excerpt of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire.

About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

She took another deep breath and decided to concentrate on breakfast or shampoo or whatever she was supposed to think about but her thoughts always came back to the same conclusion. No matter what you do that is magic related, whether be it a very small spell, or something that turn you all inside out, you are going to be blame for it. That's not healthy. She had to get out of there until Sahel figured out that him getting on her nerve was more part of the problem than part of the solution.

There had been this idea that because Sahel and her, at least their soul had been together for all the past life she could remember, they had to be together now. Yue had resisted, he didn't think he was good enough for her and she insisted more than she normally would have because after she saw his soul, the purple light dancing in his eyes, she couldn't get over it. She had to be with him and protect it but what if it was over, what if seeing his soul didn't mean what she thought it meant?

What if she didn't need to be with Sahel no matter what? Because right this moment she couldn't take it anymore, all the yelling because he was worried. She was worried too, every time he was going back to the Demon World but she wasn't yelling at him not to. She was doing what she was supposed to be doing just as he was but that seemed to be a problem for him. That wasn't really love, that was control. She wonder what she had missed when “raising” Sahel that had turned him this way. Yue was a bit like that but with Sahel it was way worse, she wouldn't be able to do anything at all if she listened to him.
