Tuesday Travel 24: Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Welcome to the first Tuesday Travel post. Every Tuesday, I will be presenting an excerpt of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire.

About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

“I can see why you were yelling, can I bite him?”
“What did I say that isn't true?” Sahel asked as if that question was going to make everyone agree with him.
“Brownie, can you make me a waffle?” Dylan asked.
“You don't eat those,” Brownie said.
“Humor me.”
Brownie took the ladle and stirred the batter a little bit before spreading it in the waffle machine, she was still hungry too and she could probably finish all that batter alone, still, she had no idea what Dylan was thinking ordering waffles around. She lowered the lid and make sure the temperature was warm enough to cook the waffle instead of just warming it.
“Did you see any magic here? Did you see anything flicker out of her fingers? Did you see her levitate?”
“What does that prove? She doesn't do those thing and you know it,” Sahel said.
“Well if she was addicted to magic, she would,” Dylan said. “Actually, if she was addicted to magic, she would already fade away, it only takes a few days for magic to kill human.”
“She was asleep for three days,” Sahel said. “That's fading away.”
“No, that's recharging your battery after exhaustion, like you would do after a super crazy fight or I would do after a wild hunt, damn, young human even do it nowadays after studying for a week of exam, Gokyuzu hasn't emerged from his room yet,” Dylan said. “She worked it hard, she crashed, she get back up, she eat, normal, healthy behaviour.”
“Thank you,” Brownie said.
“The waffle is for you by the way.”
“I guessed as much.”
