About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

There was nothing she could do about it though, she had to walk down the steep side of the mountain. there were small statue of lions hidden here and there and she wondered how many lions there really was in the entire city and if they added more for the festival or if they were always there. Samantha probably knew the answer but Brownie didn't really had the strength to ask her that. She let the question hang on the side of her mind for later.
"I can see it!" Josh exploded with a large smile on his face as if he had a sudden new surge of energy.
"The city, it's right there."
"Nope, you're sick and that's a mirage," Samantha answered.
Josh's arms fell along his side and his smile disappeared.
"Just kidding, I can see it too, we are almost there. I guess we just need to find a place to have lunch, indoor, with air conditioner."
"Sounds good to me," Josh said.
Brownie couldn't see the city yet. She was a tad smaller than the others and all that was in front of her were a lot of heads on top of a sea of red. The other's regain on energy wasn't really contagious, more tiring because she couldn't share what they were seeing. She tiptoed to have a look but it didn't really work until another two hundred meters when the city appeared at the bottom of the hill, very very close. So close she could even touch it.
"So what are we eating, the stew again," Samantha asked.
"Nothing hot, some salad, some ham, some bread, and a lot of cold water," Josh said.
"Something hot might be better though, it would stop your body from fighting the difference of temperature," Samantha said.
"I don't really care," Brownie said "but something hot might as well kill me."
