About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

He bit in his choco-croissant and walked passed the girls. He was right. Brownie didn't feel hungry because of the eat but she knew that if she didn't eat she would get in serious trouble. They had been walking a lot and the temperature kept on rising. She was completely wet with sweat underneath her clothes and she was sur that her T-shirt was showing it off under her armpit and her back pack. She regreated bringing so much stuff with her. Surely she wasn't going to make the same mistake the next day. She needed to go lighter on excursion or this stop in Fireden was going to be the end of her even before she set food in Erhland and started looking for the coven.
Going down seemed to go a lot slower than going up. Maybe it was because they were taking a different road, without stairs and without marker to tell them how far they were from the city or maybe it was because they were starting to be tired and hungry and Josh was right, breakfast food wasn't really cutting it. They needed something more. They had all three fell silence behind the procession. The dancers were back at dancing while carrying the huge puppet of the fire lion, the marching band was playing music that seemed a lot louder than they used to, probably because they had been so silent at the temple and then the monk were singing which was a bit strange. It didn't seem that they were singing words but more monosyllabic. It was getting to Brownie's head and pulsing at her temple. If she didn't get fresh water and proper non grease food really soon, she felt like she was going to have a huge headache to deal with and she didn't want that when she had to go to the cave and check it out and maybe even fight some demons, if not real one, at least the fear that lived inside of her.
She tried to breath deep through her nose to get as much oxygen as she could but it didn't work much as the air was burning hie nostril with each breath. She felt dry on the inside while her skin was so moist with sweat that she could only think about her bathtub at home. I wasn't something she thought she would miss but she was definitely missing it.
