Tuesday Travel 103: Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Welcome to Tuesday Travel. Every Tuesday, I will be presenting an excerpt of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire, the book in which Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul, is undertaking an initiatory journey.

About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

"I say we just pick one and queue somewhere, that's better than walking," Brownie said but the others didn't seem to hear. She was getting tired of this and just stopped in front of an Italian restaurant with at least ten people waiting outside.
"Here guys, they'll definitely have your tomatoes," she said pulling on Josh by the rope on his bag.
"That's way too long a wait, seriously," Josh said.
"We have been walking for at least half an hour," Brownie said, "How long before we find a free restaurant? I'm tired of walking that's all we have been doing all day and it's already two pm, the parade is going to start and we will have eaten nothing."
Samantha looked ahead.
"Maybe just a little further," she said.
"Then you go, I'm staying here," Brownie said.

She didn't really want to be alone now, she was just getting cranky because she was hot and thirsty, hungry and especially tired.
When she had left home, it was all she could think about, she wanted to be left alone to deal with her problem but so far the festival had been fun. The one thing she hadn't left behind were her nightmares about the demons, they were still the same, still coming for her as if she was a master piece in their scheme. They would probably always be coming for her until it was all over or she was dead or they already got her but she still wanted the nightmare to stop. She knew everything was wrong. She didn't need a constant reminder and she didn't need the fear. She knew trying to stop the nightmares was going to help the demon get her and that there was still hell to pay for the spell she had miscast. There was no way around that either just maybe a way to protect her or to help her control what sort of punishment she would have to face for the spells in question. So yeah, she hadn't slept much last night. She thought that three day of sleep would have helped with the tiredness but it ran a lot deeper than that.

"Ok, we'll go on ahead quickly while you queue here and if I find something, we'll let you know," Samantha said.
"I'm not going anywhere," Josh said. "She is right, enough is enough."
