Tuesday Travel 84: Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Welcome to Tuesday Travel. Every Tuesday, I will be presenting an excerpt of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire, the book in which Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul, is undertaking an initiatory journey.

About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

The parade separated into two waves. A large one was going straight to the cave and a smaller was turned into a very narrow street. Samantha made a move to follow the smaller one.

"They are going to the mountain," she said. "They need to meet with others at the second temple up there before going to the cave."

They were now really close to the dance and a small part of the band had follow. The music was a lot calmer with no big drums to play the beat. Somehow, Brownie loved it a lot better.

"You can't be serious," Josh said. "It's like 100 degrees out here and you want to climb the mountain? They don't have food or water up there either."

"It's your only chance to ever see that unless you come back to this festival later. You want to let it pass," Brownie said.

"Damn girls," Josh said following her behind Samantha. "I didn't plane on doing this part, I was just find with missing it until you said it out loud."

"I know," Brownie said.

She hadn't planed on any of this either. She hadn't planned on stopping before reaching the coven in Erhland. She hadn't planed on being a witch and having to go to Erhland at all, she hadn't planed on magic trying to back fire on her especially when Sahel was involved. She hadn't planed on all the nightmares. Just in this life, because you were alive, things didn't go as planed, ever. She wonder if there was a need for planning at all.

"I planned on doing it and I have enough water to go up and down," Samantha said.

"I have water too," Brownie said.
