Tuesday Travel 6: Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Welcome to the first Tuesday Travel post. Every Tuesday, I will be presenting an excerpt of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire.

About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

She inspected her clothes for a bit, a new idea forming in her head.
“I don't need to hide from anyone.”
She walked to the bathroom and turned the shower on, letting it reach a good temperature before taking of her clothes and sliding under the running water. The water felt different, as if she could feel every part of it, as if every little molecule had their own temperature and were just falling on her like as much little beats. A shiver run up her spine and the sensation was gone, just like the previous one. There was something bizarre happening but she had more urgent matter right now that to worry about some alternative perception.
The truth was, she had been thinking about it for a while. There were always problem, always troubles coming up so she had pushed it away at the back of her mind but now, the idea was back nagging at her. Would it be selfish to just go? Because that's what it was really, even if she could try to explain that she wanted to go to improve her magic, to become stronger, to be more helpful, to whatever, the ultimate truth was, she just wanted out. She wanted to do it for herself and herself only. There was little support for her using magic at all. Viorel thought it was ok to know tibits but would always whisdraw information and if asked would keep her out of the loop. Then Isakael thought she was too strong to mess with power and that they would end up going out of control. Gideon wasn't against it, just his believes were so different that he had at time trouble to understand she even could used magic, which was ridiculous seeing she had done it times and times again. Then they were the others who didn't say it out loud but would have rather have the old Brownie around, except it was too late for this girl to come back. Dylan was the only one happy about it but that was because he didn't really care about anyone well being.
