About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last time

She sighed and went back to her stew. The conversation had died with the magical wave, if had grounded her but at the same time, she felt a bit of a malaise. She had never used magic that way. To protect herself against intrusion, yes but never to make everyone shut up. It seemed like killing everyone's free will and she didn't like it much. It couldn't come from anyone else on the table than Josh. Samantha and the other girl had been feeding into the discord and Samuel seemed so detached about everything that she couldn't see him willing to intervene. She pushed her magic out a little probing the other table around, looking for the source but there was nothing. Could magic just be risen from someone and disappear? It was really strange.

"So what are you going to do tomorrow?" She asked breaking the silence. It seemed that if she wasn't breaking the ice right now, they would all stay mute forever.

"Sleep all day and wait for the band to start playing in the late afternoon," Samuel answered.

She almost wanted to roll her eyes but dived in her stew instead. She could feel that next to her Samantha was also biting her tongue not to say something bad.

"I'm going to the parade early morning," Josh said. "It starts and the main temple and finishes at the demon cave. If you stick at the cave long enough, there is a way to sneak in and check it out."

"That's sound cool," Samantha said.

Brownie could do with the temple and the parade, but she wasn't sure about the demon cave. The last time she had venture in a demon cave hadn't been very pleasant.

"There is nothing to see in there, just old rocks, and it's humid too," Marri said.
