Welcome to Tuesday Travel. Every Tuesday, I will be presenting an excerpt of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire, the book in which Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul, is undertaking an initiatory journey.
Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.
Most people were in red and yellow to celebrate the fire event. When she looked back at the lions, the purple shadow had disappeared from their eyes. She had seen their souls, she was sure of it but she didn't know what it meant or what she was supposed to do.
The first Soul she ever saw had been Yue's and her answer had been that they needed to be together, then she needed to get his soul back to him and then to protect it in Sahel but now Sahel was strong and she needed to protect herself first. But what could souls, of the same color as Sahel's no less, mean inside of fire lion statues, she had no idea. There was something strange already about this festival and her stone doing weird things and having weird reaction but the souls. She moved forward letting Josh touch the girl's feet and joined Samantha who was waiting on the side. She had said she wanted to observe but not participate in a cult that she didn't know about. Brownie could understand. Just coming here might have been a magic spell nobody knew about and she didn't want to know about the consequences of so many people doing the same thing but somehow it was said to be for good luck and she could do with a little bit more luck.
Josh had said that if he didn't do it, it was like climbing all those stairs for nothing and that would really piss him off. He wasn't really happy about being here, he was glaring at Brownie through his sunglasses. She couldn't see his eyes but she could feel them on her and she didn't know how to feel about it.
