Welcome to Tuesday Travel. Every Tuesday, I will be presenting an excerpt of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire, the book in which Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul, is undertaking an initiatory journey.
Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.
The excerpt, we start where we left off last time
"How did she know there were fourteen of them?" Josh asked. He was back in his chatty mood.
"The entire city knows, they are all in with it because they don't know how to defend themselves."
"But if she is a witch..." Josh said.
"Then she knows better than anyone else that messing with demons is dangerous and shouldn't be attempted," Brownie said.
"Then why are you doing it?" Josh asked.
"Because there is nothing else I can do and I'm already in danger anyway," Brownie said.
"So how are you going to rise wind without the help of the goddess?" Josh asked.
"I'll use my own energy and if it fails, I'll use yours."
Josh swallowed.
"Right," he said.
Brownie could feel the magic in him flicker at the thought. It was strange.
"Have you done magic before?" Brownie asked.
Josh hesitated a second which seemed a bit strange to her.
