Tuesday Travel 86: Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Welcome to Tuesday Travel. Every Tuesday, I will be presenting an excerpt of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire, the book in which Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul, is undertaking an initiatory journey.

About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

The parade was a bit slower now. The road was steep and it was getting harder on the legs to climb up. Then came the stairs. Stairs after stairs after stairs.

"Shall we count how many to the top?" Josh asked.

"Five hundred and fifty five," Samantha answered. She was still holding her book in her hands and Brownie wondered how she felt about it. She was really happy to have her hands free all she wished for was a little camera to be able to take a few pictures of the place. She hadn't thought of that when she left, she hadn't thought she would be doing anything else than worry about Sahel and magic.

"That's not fun," Josh said. "Why do you have to know all the answers all the time?"

"Because if I don't know, I get annoyed," Samantha answered.

Brownie didn't want to talk. They had been stopping to drink every few minutes and it looked like they were going to run out of water, if they didn't reach the top soon.

"And beside, you decided to count now and we already climbed like one third or something," Samantha said.

"True," Josh said looking behind them. The crowed was sparse now but there were still people climbing even if most of the procession had been following the main parade to go directly to the cave.

"Do you think we'll make it to the cave before the others?" Brownie asked.
