Tuesday Travel 12: Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Welcome to the first Tuesday Travel post. Every Tuesday, I will be presenting an excerpt of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire.

About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

He was starting to get on her nerves and he hadn't done anything wrong, it was just her anticipation of the talk they needed to have, her imagining it over and over again in the shower that was creating this situation.
No.
“Yes, can you get the water when it's ready.” No would have been a lie. No was what disconnected people said. She had already said she was fine, so she couldn't make it worse.
She spread a ladle of batter in the waffle machine before noticing it was unplugged. She cursed, plugged it and remember that her toast were cooling down. Everything was going wrong today, everything. Maybe she should have stayed in bed.
She spread butter on the first toast and it didn't really melt. She ate it standing, waiting for the waffle. Sahel was looking at her. The boiler stopped. He didn't move. She spread butter on her second toast and went for the water herself. Maybe No was the good answer after all. “We need to talk,” Sahel said.
Here it was.
“I guess so,” Brownie answered.
“What happened?”
“Nothing, I was asleep.” Brownie said. She bit in her toast, looking at him. He didn't say anything until her toast was finished and she had a burning cup of tea in hand, her back resting on the counter near the waffle machine.
“Maybe you better sit down.” He finally said.
