Tuesday Travel 11: Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Welcome to the first Tuesday Travel post. Every Tuesday, I will be presenting an excerpt of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire.

About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

She remembered all the time when she had prepared him breakfast when he wasn't feeling one hundred percent in own self, how many times she had prepared dinner for him and his friends when he was coming back from who knows where and felt depleted. Yes, she wanted to do it, to make him happy but that was part of the problem, she expected something in return, like a cup of warm tea on the table, some waffle or some pancakes too maybe. The butter and the jam to be out. Of course he had done it before but somehow she wanted it now too. The bread jumped in the toaster and she put it on her plate using the tip of her fingers. It was so hot she almost dropped the second one. “Are you ok?”
“Fine,” she answered.
She added water in the empty boiler and put a bag of mind tea with two spoonful of sugar in her cup. Hitomi would frown at her if she was here seeing that.
“The sugar is going to be absorbed by the bag you need to put it after the water”, she would say, but today, Brownie didn't really care. She debated with herself a bit longer considering if she needed extra sweetness but decided against. She might try to find some waffle batter though, she was famish.
No food for three days meant she could probably eat anything she wanted. She went to the fridge and looked for extra batter, there was always pots in there so that they didn't need to make it in the morning and wait for it to raise before breakfast.
“Do you need help?” Sahel asked.
