About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

“And I can take care of a demon or two,” Dylan said. “I sort of created myself a small demon army, very vicious little creature.”
“I have no idea what you are talking about,” Brownie said.
“Dylan just discovered himself a vocation for babysitting,” Viorel said.
He opened a drawer and took an white handkerchief out which seemed waiting. Brownie had no doubt what was inside.
“I changed it back to everything it was. No demons will see you or the people close to you, not even Sahel, we tested it, they won't hear you either,” Viorel said.
He handed the handkerchief to Brownie. She opened it and too the pendent. Memory flew back, the last time she had seen it was when Sahel was still a baby and she had to protect him. He was so sweet at that age and she was his hero. Now, it was all so far gone she didn't think he would ever look at her that way again. Their relationship seemed irremediably broken and running away without telling him was probably only make it worse.
“Thank you,” she said passing the medallion around her neck. And she meant it because the last thing she wanted to lose was Sahel but even with all the love in her heart, she knew nothing good would come from this relationship if she didn't drastically change the dynamic of it and right now she needed out. It was funny in a way how it seemed that the circled was just finished, it started with Yue running out on her and now she was doing the same thing to Sahel, the irony of it was eating at her.
“So where are you going?” Dylan asked.
“Somewhere is Erhland,” Brownie said.
“She can't even tell us,” Viorel said. “It needs to be her secret she can't leave any trail.”
“Sahel isn't that bad,” Dylan answer.
“It's not even Sahel I'm afraid of,” Viorel said, “he might try to bring her home, but it's the others I'm worried about, the demons want the witch, they have always said so. If anyone in this house knows anything about where Brownie is, it would put us, her and the witch coven over there in danger.”
