Welcome to Tuesday Travel. Every Tuesday, I will be presenting an excerpt of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire, the book in which Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul, is undertaking an initiatory journey.
Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.
The excerpt, we start where we left off last week
People were standing looking toward the center of the cave, from where she stood, Brownie couldn't see what they were looking at or what was around the cave. But seeing the air moving around, it seemed like there had to be at least two other exits. It was nothing like what she had imagine, and it was nothing to be afraid of.
People moved toward the walls and there were tier there. Brownie follow Josh and Samantha up the stairs and they found a place to sit in a row.
They were told to sit next to each other, every seat had to be taken so that they could accommodate as many people as possible.
"How many people are in here?" Josh asked.
"I really don't know," Brownie said looking around.
Now, with the elevation, she could see the entire room. Some people were stopped at the entrance of the corridor.
"We are lucky to have seats for the first representation," Samantha said. "They'll do four or five depending on how many people are still waiting outside. Seriously I didn't feel like waiting again."
So that was it. The cave which had been transformed for the festival so much that it looked more like a concert hall than a cave. Somehow Brownie was a bit disappointed. She had thought it would be more like a real demon den. It had scared her for nothing. She hoped her brain would take note of that and stop acting up. Stop freaking out in advance at the suspected danger instead of acting on it when it presented itself. She was happy to sit down though, that was a nice change. She once again grabbed a sweater in her bag.
"How long is the representation?" she asked.
