Welcome to Tuesday Travel. Every Tuesday, I will be presenting an excerpt of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire, the book in which Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul, is undertaking an initiatory journey.
Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.
"The monk was facing her. He had flame tatooes on the top of his shaved hair and the first thing that came to Brownie's mind that it might have been super painful to have his head inked. But that was part of the monk training she supposed.
"I was wondering what the carvings around the tree actually mean," Brownie said trying not to let the tatoo or the red attire of the monk distract her. His outfit seemed so hot and thick that she wonder how he was able to manage with the heat. She was sweating abondantly and she was not normally really the sweary type of person.
"So you can see them too," he said looking at the tree.
"Of course," Brownie said.
He turned to her.
"Their isn't many people who can see carvings here and they are different for everyone," he said.
Brownie didn't really quite believe that Samanthat could see them, she was writing them down and Josh had been taking enough pictures to indicate that he too could see them.
"You should check what your friend is writing, it might be interesting to compare it with what you see. For your other friend, there will be nothing on his pictures, you see, you can't take pictures of the tree or the crystals, they just don't appear on the pictures."
"I don't understand," Brownie said.
It seemed completely crazy to her. According of what she knew about photography, it was just light propagating through lens and being capture, not really much different than what her eyes were doing, she could see the crystals and process the light information in her brain.
