About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

"I'll check your palm once I show you your room and we'll see," the woman said. "Let's go."
Brownie followed her through multiple corridors and stairs.
"I didn't think you would want to be in a dormitory," the woman said. "Not that there really anything wrong with the people here but it's your first time traveling, right? You might not have all the skills required to be safe in a crowd yet."
It was the second time in less than an hour that someone had notice that she was new at this. Was she really pointing out like a sore thumb or something? She wasn't sure why. She had definitely known how to be safe in critical situation before. She had put herself in dangerous situation too.
"It's a room with two beds," the woman continued, "I'm not expecting anyone else but if more people turn up you might have to share the room so please only use one bed."
"Of course," Brownie said.
She had no idea how hostel worked, all she knew was that it was cheaper than an hotel and that she wasn't going to sleep on the street tonight and apparently not the three following nights either. In a way, it made sense to stay until the day after the festival, when most of the tourists would already be gone and she could just relax for a bit and enjoy an empty city before taking the train but at the same time, she felt a bit guilty not to be already on the way to her destination. Still, she had to learn something here even if she wasn't sure what that was.
"Here is the girls' bathroom. Some people stay here long enough that they leave their stuff here as if it was home. There is shampoo and soap provided so only use the things from the hostel and not the personal stuff. If you don't want people looking at your stuff, bring it back to your room after your done," the woman said.
That was common sense but Brownie thought that maybe it wasn't for everyone if that woman thought it was appropriate to talk about it.
