Wednesday Snippet 173: Blue Angel

Welcome to a new part of Blue Angel unedited, we start right where we left off last time.

She was giving a tour of the place to the twins but she couldn't help feeling out of place. People were watching, people were stopping their conversation and turning away every time they approached. It was better with the two boys to protect her, despite what her parents had said, it didn't feel like a safe place at all. The Nephilims were different, she had seen them transform into animals to carry stones and wood to repair the sanctuary more easily. She had tried to help but her help wasn't welcome. She was losing confidence in her own powers, all she could do was to throw storms when she was angry, to make it rain, to have the wind blow everything away. That was her power, they said she was and air demon but she wasn't sure. There was water in her storm and she didn't feel any particular attraction toward any of the element. This people, their hiding place had been partially destroyed but they had still each other and they could still rebuild. The last time her brother came home, with the Hunters waiting for him in the living-room she had lost everything, her house, her status in her World, her friends, everything she cared about except for Taram. She hold on to his hand a bit tighter, he was glad to have him here even if there was no way they could stay alone as she shared a small room with her parents. Her father had said that it was just temporary but she knew that Seti being himself was not temporary and that he would never let go of them. She hated him for being different, she was happy he had tried to help her but the consequences were more than disastrous. Taram suddenly let go of her hand and started to walk faster in the corridor. There was a girl with a shoulder on the wall, she seemed to be waiting for someone playing with her curly light brown hair that didn't differ from the color of her skin.

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 175

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet?Sign up to be part of our awesome Vampire Friday blog hop team! You know you want to!

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left of last week

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.
“I don’t really know about the wolves, I can feel them sometimes and I know they mean good but they never come close to me, as if they were afraid of something and I know it’s hard on mum. On the other side I have this family that only partially accept me because I’m only partially like them. I want to be accepted, that’s why I want to go to the mountains with them tonight, I want to learn and I want to know.”
“Then we will go,” my father simply said.
“You always tell me to be myself but I don’t know how to do that, I don’t even know who I am,” I said looking down.
“In due time you might find yourself and at other time lose yourself, I never said it would be easy but you can try to make your own choices. I know that your mother won’t approve of the choice you made tonight and that she will try to stop you, you only have to be true to yourself and to what you want in the person moment. Don’t let other people open a fight between the wolf and the vampire in you because it’s a fight nobody will win. You can be both because you were born that way. You have the rich and unique blood of two immovable words. I wish for you to travel in both of them but to keep your heart in between.”
“I’m trying,” I said.

Thursday Fiction 169: Parallel Slip

Welcome back to a new part of Parallel Slip, where we follow the adventures of Frederique through her slip in different parallel universes.

Let's start right where we left off last week.

"That's not true," I answered not knowing what he was talking about but it felt like the right thing to say.
"If I wasn't so absorbed in work all the time, if I had listen to her when she told me that they were frightening her, it wouldn't have happened."
Who was he talking about?
"You couldn't know," I said more and more confused.
"I should have known, she is my twin sister, we have a connection, I should have known," he said.
Amy flashed in my head and with her the anguish that maybe my surrounding in my original universe was influencing my trips. I couldn't believe it, Amy was in danger in my original world and something had happened to her here too.
The door opened like in slow motion and Fin let go of me to take a military stand. We weren't supposed to hug, not here, not in this universe. I wanted him to relax but there was no way.
"Captain," the doctor said walking out of the room. "She will be fine."
He opened the door larger and I could pick inside. Amy was dressed in a uniform an sitting on a bed with a bandage all around her head and covering one of her eyes.
"Her eye," I asked.

Wednesday Snippet 172: Blue Angel

Welcome to a new part of Blue Angel unedited, we start right where we left off last time.

“What Taram actually wants to say is that he wants you to come live with us?” Torin said trying to sound serious but he couldn't repressed a smile at the joke.
Taram threw him a dark look and smiled at Samira.
“Of course, you could come over whenever you want,” he said.
“No thank you, after what my brother did last time he visited your father's office, I'm afraid he might try to poison me to cancel the wedding,” Samira said.
“Seti would totally kill him for that,” Torin answered a bit alarmed knowing that she had a point. Their dad was mad, he would definitely lock them up if he knew they were skipping school to come here.
Taram smiled, he was actually feeling a lot more comfortable not having Samira around for a while. “Do you know a guy called Sahel?” he asked.
“I should have known that you didn't come here for me,” Samira said sighting.
She was used to it, Taram's display of affection never lasted long in public at least.
“Of course I came for you,” Taram said winking.

Samira couldn't resist when he did that even though she hated it. It was making her feel like the only girl on the planet even though she had seem him do it to others too many times.
“I was wondering that too actually, we haven't seen him in a while, maybe you would even like him better than Taram,” Torin said.
Taram threw him a bad look, even if he was looking at other girls he still wanted to keep Samira all for himself.
“I don't know anyone, we just arrive and Watchers like us don't really mix well with the local Nephilims, they are kind of expecting us to bring back the guys who attacked the sanctuary,” Samira said in a low voice.
