Thursday Fiction 418: Parallel Slip 2: Rebel

Welcome back to a new Thursday Fiction, it's been a while. We continue with Parallel Slip 2: Rebel where we left of last time, following Isabelle as she figure out who she really is.

“They all want their part in the game, they all believe that their own descendants would be loyal to their universe, which is very unlikely. People place loyalty where they are born,” Romulus said.

“What does that say about me?”

“Nothing, just that you know where the danger is.”

“Actually, I don't,” Isabelle said. “I don't even know why I'm here listening to you in the first place.”

“Were you happy with your family?” Romulus asked.

“What does it have to do with anything?”

“You are here because something inside you knew that something wasn't ok,” Romulus said.

“Seriously, maybe the only thing that wasn't ok is me, and you,” Isabelle said looking through the window.

Wednesday Snippet 420: Fairy World 61

Welcome back to Wednesday Snippet. This week, we continue with Fairy World unedited just where we left off last week

"We better get going," Kelpie said. "If you are looking for the mad queen, chances are she is in her tower, the only piece of the castle we can see from here, if you are looking for the new queen, I have no idea."

"Then tower it is," Sahel said sighting.

"You can fly there," Apostos said looking up. "We'll enter the city and have a look around. When we want to find you, we'll just follow the noise."

Sahel smiled.

"I claimed you as mine, you better be safe," Azazel said elevating himself.

"Only the stars know what the future held, only the stars know," Apostos said.

They flew up toward the tower in straight line.

End of chapter. Next week, we're going back to see what Brownie is up to.

Tuesday Travel 216: Witch Raising: The Book of Earth 63

Welcome to Tuesday Travel. This week we are following Brownie on her journey as she is going toward the second element: Earth.

About Witch Raising.

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt starts right where we left off last week.

“Excuse me, excuse me, sorry,” she whispered in a rushed and low voice hoping that people would just move away. Most did, other time some didn't and she had to wait.

The demons were nowhere to be seen. But they had made their mark in the mind of the people who were now discussing the strange apparition at the window instead of the boulder. Some said it was staged by the train company as an adventure and that the demons were just crew member wearing costumes to distract them while they fixed a mechanical problem. They had all reached the conclusion that a boulder couldn't be blocking the train because there was no reason for a boulder to appear in the middle of the desert but Brownie wasn't sure any more. Right now, she would have loved the train to start moving forward, it would have been a lot more difficult for the demons to smell the magic if the train was moving but the demon had to have moved the boulder. Sahel's friend Azazel could do that. He could create earthquake, make the ground shake and break. Brownie knew for sure that he couldn't be the only demon with that ability. Sahel could probably do something approaching with a bit of training.

Mystery Monday 213: Murder at the Conference 110

Hello mystery lovers and welcome to a new Mystery Monday.
I hope you had a great week-end. Here is a new little part of Murder at the Conference. Murder at the Conference is a stand alone sequel to Harajuku Kiss.

We start right were we left off last week:

“No, you were trying to pull me down. You saw that I was happy at the way I look because I don't often wear dresses at the lab. You stated every thing you thought was wrong with the dress, every thing you could come up with to make me feel bad about buying it and wasting money on something that would decay too fast because you know I don't buy clothes too often. You tried to make me feel self-conscious about the way I looked by calling me improper for my place of work and to finish, you showed up to show me the right way to do it, as if you knew better. All to show me that you were better at picking up clothes and at wearing dresses.”

“Because I am, that's a fact, I was trying to teach you,” Christa said rising and lowering her arms.

“No, you were taking a hit at my self-esteem. It took me a few weeks to wear that dress again. And I noticed that you were the only one rolling your eyes at it. Other girls all over the city wear similar dresses during the summer. It was only your problem. But it's like that for about everything I do or say. It's always a problem you have with it.”

“Because your behavior is a problem,” she said. “Why can't you see it?”

You can now find all the Snippets of Murder at the Conference on this blog all together right here.

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 427

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet?

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last time.

"He made it," I answered while Irina disappeared behind a cupboard.

"Take me with you." It was my guard, he was moving a large shelf in front of the door and I moved quickly to help him.

"I don't know where you are going but take me with you, I can't stay here, not with them not with people dying for no reason," he said.

"What's in there for me?" I asked.

"I'm strong, you are traveling with a child who can't help you," he said looking toward Irina's hiding place. I could see her feet under the cupboard, the Jäger would see them too.

"Irina is highly educated, she can speak and translate several languages, she has very tasty blood for when I need a snack and apparently now she can even see the future, and on the top of everything she is small, easy to carry and doesn't make me spend too much food to feed her."

"I can be better than the wolf at least," he said.

"Alexei is an expert in horses and know exactly how to go where I want to go and on the top of it he is a wolf which interest me highly for private purposes," I said unimpressed by the way my guard was trying to impressed me.

Thursday Fiction 417: Parallel Slip 2: Rebel

Welcome back to a new Thursday Fiction, it's been a while. We continue with Parallel Slip 2: Rebel where we left of last time, following Isabelle as she figure out who she really is.

“That makes no sense, the entire wealth of the alliance repose on the fact that everyone is unique in their universe, that's why it's kept small, so that everyone got a part of the cake in every world but the leading traveling family get the most power,” Isabelle said.

“But what if you had an army of traveler working just for you, they wouldn't need to be rich, all they would need would be to obey you.”

“Then they could do everything they wanted. In every universe. Take the technology that was refused to them before, and with Malik in only two universes.”

“The benefit would go to Hamelin and Hadesa.” Romulus finished. “It would be the end of the alliance, the end of prosperity for the rest of us and...”

“But wait, why would anyone want to help create that army?” Isabelle asked.

It made very little sense. And even if she had thought that Mike was Malik's father, it was more of a joke, just imagining her mother with him, or more exactly his old other self on Hamelin made her want to vomit. Even her mother wouldn't go to that length but hadn't she said just yesterday that Mike was a good man? It was so gross but it didn't mean that wasn't possible.

Wednesday Snippet 419: Fairy World 60

Welcome back to Wednesday Snippet. This week, we continue with Fairy World unedited just where we left off last week

"What are you talking about?"

"Sahel and his incredible control of heat, can't you feel it?" the angel answered.

"That's nothing, I was too late to react to them anyway," Sahel answered.

"Why?" Kelpie said. He hadn't said a word yet and they all turned toward him.

"I really don't know, I'm sorry," Sahel said.

"No, I mean I know why they killed them. What I don't get is why you didn't?" Kelpie asked.

"So you think we should just go ahead and kill people just because we are demons?" Azazel said.

"That's an idea," Isakael answered chuckling.

"I'm a Nephil. Ok, don't confuse me with those guys, they are Watcher, not the same, ok," Azazel said pointing himself then at the spot where Torsti and Odeon had disappeared.

"I thought they were good guys, they helped before," Sahel said.

"They helped before because they needed help too, I'm sure they were just trying to help here too though," Azazel answered, "the creepy watchers way."

Brownie took her arm away.

“They do, welcome to my world,” she said and she ran.

“Isn't she a little...” Oscar started.

“More than a little but those things looked through us like they didn't see us,” Henry said.

“Which doesn't make any sense...”

“Not even more sense then a boulder on the tracks,” Henry said.

“If they come back,” Brownie said turning around. “Either hide or... maybe they won't be interested in you.”

She opened the door at the end of the wagon and slide through to the next. There were enough people to go through without the demons detecting her. At least she hoped, all she had to do was go through and make sure nobody interacted with her.

Mystery Monday 212: Murder at the Conference 109

Hello mystery lovers and welcome to a new Mystery Monday.
I hope you had a great week-end. Here is a new little part of Murder at the Conference. Murder at the Conference is a stand alone sequel to Harajuku Kiss.

We start right were we left off last week:

“And you need to change yours.”

“I'm not the one with the murderous boyfriend, the panic attacks, unhappy about the way I look and a workaholic problem leading me nowhere.”

“No, you are the on with a comparing problem.”

“I'm not comparing anything.”

“Remember when I came to the lab with this dress the first time?” I asked pointing at my summer dress. “I was so happy. I had been to the store with a friend and we had both bought new summer dresses together and I felt good and beautiful and happy. You told me that my dress was not proper, that anything above knee length shouldn't be worn at the university, even thought there is no dressing code saying anything like that. You told me that the fabric was really cheap, that after a few wash it would be see through. Then the next day you came to the lab wearing a summer dress too, and you turned on yourself to show of to me and told me that this was the proper way to wear this type of dress. That yours was going to last all summer.”

“I was just trying to help, nothing wrong with that!”

"Then I want you to hide," I said, "I'll fight them."

"You just hide and in case anything bad happen you get out of here without letting anyone know."

I gave her the bag she had carrier with her.

"I believe you took my money and the diary, go back to Praha and ask for Nicolas Flamel in the golden street, tell him I sent you and bring him this." I gave her the philosopher stone.

"But I want to help," she said.

"You helped enough Irina," I said. "If something bad happens I want you to be safe. Nicolas will help you, I promise."

My guard looked at us one last time and started to run to the door. It was a bit later than I had expected but his hesitation had still bought me some times. I was ready to fight, and sure that Irina at least would be safe.

"Don't let anyone else than Nicolas get that stone, it's really important," I said.

"Why him?"

Thursday Fiction 416: Parallel Slip 2: Rebel

Welcome back to a new Thursday Fiction, it's been a while. We continue with Parallel Slip 2: Rebel where we left of last time, following Isabelle as she figure out who she really is.

“They want to create an heir to replace you,” Romulus said.

“They have Malik for that.”

“Yes, the son of Mike,” Romulus answered with a disgusted look on his face.

“Wait, what?”

“Your brother is only your half brother, which is why you are under surveillance and he isn't, he doesn't have a tracker. He is awake at all time in two different universes, they can't track him,” Romulus said.

“But that's impossible,” Isabelle answered.

“He is the son of your mother and Mike, he got the power from both of them, they tried it when they heard the story of the heir of Anarin and it worked. Now they want to create an army. Make as many of us have children in this world so that all our descendants would be travelers.”

Wednesday Snippet 418: Fairy World 59

Welcome back to Wednesday Snippet. This week, we continue with Fairy World unedited just where we left off last week

"Torsti, get him and get away from here," Sahel said. "If you can find the tree back, when the magic reappears that's where you'll be able to get out."

"What the held are you talking about?" Torsti said hitting the ground with his hammer.

A lightning bowl cracked the sky.

"Don't waste your magic, it's not unlimited anymore," Sahel said.

Odeon was about to panic.

"So good for gods, as bad as humans," Azazel said changing his arms into wood and back. I don't have any problems.

Torsti took Odeon by the shoulder and walked backward dragging him until they got to a safe distance to take off.

"I can't wait for them to meet the birds," Azazel said not taking his eyes of them until they were totally out of sight.

"Why didn't you just roast them?" Isakael asked laughing.

Azazel turned to him.

The excerpt starts right where we left off last week.

A demon flew to their window to take a look. Henry felt backward when the face appeared and sat on the closed seat. Brownie held her breathe hoping that the window was enough to muffle the sound. The demon looked right and left. She was so glad that she had Viorel's amulet with her at that moment. The demon finally move forward toward the next window. She stayed still until they reached at the next wagon.

Then she realised that they had to be smelling the magic. Daphy was in danger, they were going to go after her as the witch they were looking for. In a way that would give her time to get away if they took Daphy, she had never seen them before, they probably didn't know what she looked like. But on the other hand, she couldn't let them hurt Daphy. She was a bad witch but she was still one of the rare of her sort of kind.

“Daphy is in danger,” Brownie said. She started but Henry stopped her by the arm.

“Wait, what is going on? Demons don't exist.”

Mystery Monday 211: Murder at the Conference 108

Hello mystery lovers and welcome to a new Mystery Monday.
I hope you had a great week-end. Here is a new little part of Murder at the Conference. Murder at the Conference is a stand alone sequel to Harajuku Kiss.

We start right were we left off last week:

“You know, you're lucky, I'm happy enough with my life, because it's people like you who are making fat kids become anorexic and kill themselves.”

“For telling the truth?”

“You weren't telling the truth, you were being plain mean to me and trying to hurt my feelings on purpose.”

“Then why are you even talking to me in the first place if you don't like what I have to say?”

“I was just trying to help you, god, all I'm doing is trying to help you so that your life is not so pathetic and miserable.”

“It never occurred to you that I don't want your help, that I don't need your help, that I never asked for it?”

“You can't even see your own problems, that's why I need to help.”

“And you are not qualified, Christa. You never listen to what I have to say, you disrespect me on a daily basis.”

“I never disrespected you, you did when you call me fat.”

“Because telling me that I'm the kind of person who pushes people to kill themselves was really nice and tactful and especially helpful.”

“You need to change your attitude,” she pushed her hair away from her shoulder, exasperated.

"You mean the philosopher stone," she said.

"That doesn't exist," my guard said.

I walked past him and seize the sword Irina had left on the floor. He was startled but nothing more. I was expecting him to run and open the door to his friends any minutes.

"Why didn't you kill me?"

"Can you do anything else than ask questions?" Irina said.

"He is a bit uneducated," I answered in his defense. I needed to get Alexei back to his human sense before freeing him and that could take a long time. The philosopher stone would only restore him in his normal state and at this time of the month, normal meant, wolf. Bad, uncontrollable, human-eating wolf.

"Well let me educate you a little, you-bad, we happy when you're not here so get lost and stop getting in our way," Irinas said.

She was back at totally being herself and that was something I really enjoyed.

"What are you looking for?" She asked.

"They gave him something and I need to figure out what it is," I said. "That might take time."

"That we don't have, the door won't hold for ever," she said.
