Welcome to Tuesday Travel. Every Tuesday, I will be presenting an excerpt of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire, the book in which Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul, is undertaking an initiatory journey.
Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.
The excerpt, we start where we left off last week
The crowd was so slow that Brownie thought they would never manage to get out of there before the demons noticed there was something off about them. That was ludicrous, they were hidden not only by the crowd and by the pendant but the demons were probably scanning the energy for magic like she had been doing so often and Brownie had no idea if the pendant would hide that part of her too.
What did they really want with her? The formula wouldn't work for demons, it had made Sahel so sick. Maybe they wanted something from her past lives, something she didn't know about yet. That would be more plausible. She wanted to ask but it was too dangerous and too obscure. She was glad there were no real fire lions because the place would have probably burned to ashes with all the humans inside including her. She finally realised why the demons were doing everything underground even when they had the entire demon world for themselves. Nobody could really risk an attack there. It would be like trapping yourself at the same time, a sort of suicide mission. Exactly the kind Sahel's friend would take him too, he was probably already there now that she wasn't around to stop them. And she wouldn't have stopped them for long anyway. The thought came to her that she might never see him again, not because she was gone, not because her life was in danger right now or because the miscast spell would kill her but because he was foolish enough to start fight underground and make the entire earth collapse. He had done it before, he could definitely do it again.
