Welcome to Tuesday Travel. Every Tuesday, I will be presenting an excerpt of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire, the book in which Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul, is undertaking an initiatory journey.
Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.
"Here," Samantha said. She handed Josh's tube of sun cream to Brownie.
It strangely smelled like coconut which seemed to be a weird smell for Josh to have.
She took a little bit in her palm and placed it on her skin, it was cold.
"Don't forget the back of your neck," Josh said. "People always forget the back of their neck."
He took a blue cap with a flame design at the front and a lion on the side out of his bag and put it on his head making most of his short blond hair disappear.
Samantha rose and eyebrow.
"Where did you get that?"
"At the train station yesterday, it looks cool, it's practical and it makes a good souvenir," Josh said.
Brownie gave him back his sun cream tube and he put it in his bag, picking up some sunglasses. He looked one hundred percent like a tourist now. Brownie took another sip of her cold drink. The bottle was wet all around and she didn't like the feeling of the water on her hand. She took a few tissu papers on the stand next to her and put them around her bottle. They were socked immediately.
"With that temperature, the drink don't stay cold too long, we better drink that up and keep going," Samantha said.
Brownie didn't feel like drink her entire bottle just now. She didn't mind too much if it turned at ambient temperature. She added new tissues papers around her bottle and put it in her bag away from anything that might be damage by a bit of water.
They continued behind the parade. They were people everywhere around them but the procession with the lion and the dance was now further away. Samantha wanted to catch up for some reasons but Josh kept on dragging his feet by looking at every stand around.
"What do you say we ditch him?" Samantha said.
"I don't know," Brownie said.
