About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

"A table for six please," Josh said. "Rori from the back-packers said to say hi."
Brownie almost laughed at that, it was so not discreet, almost as bad as yelling hey we are staying at the back-packers can we eat here for half the price? But she didn't say anything and followed the others through the restaurant to a back room. The restaurant was almost entirely made of wood. The floor was made of wood and so were the walls, the ceiling, the table, even the fan turning slowly on the ceiling was made of wood.
That seemed rather dangerous in a city known for its fire. Brownie sat at the table's corner next to Samantha with Marri in front of her. She was still looking inside of Samantha's book, there was an historical part classifying Fireden as the most burned down city in the entire country. Fire would spread from the forest nearby. There had also been pyromaniac accidents, and of course some unexplained phenomena apparently at the hands of the Lions. The inhabitant didn't really care about having things burned down as long as the Lions where involved with fighting the demons. On several occasions, a minor fire had turned into an incredible brazier turning down the entire city to ashes, just because people wanted to help the Lions feed the earth. Feed the earth, the fire feeds the earth with ashes, Brownie finally figured that one out and smile.
"Anything interesting," Josh asked from across the table.
"You better look at the menu," Samuel said.
Brownie gave the book back to Samantha and checked out what to order. She was more than ok with some Fire Stew.
