Thursday Taster 1: Rainbow Catcher

I'm trying this new thing on Thursday. (Thursday cinema will be up later on today.) It's called Thursday Taster, talented writers from all over the blogosphere gather together to give readers tasty parts of their work in progress, you can find the list here

As I'm currently working on the edits of Rainbow Catcher, that's the project I will be presenting until it is ready. Today, we start with the very beginning of the story. As it's under editing, if you see anything funny, hit me on the head in the comments.

Clarissa coughed holding her chest tightly with both hands. Jason put a hand on her back and helped her on the pillow before grabbing the remote control on the night table. Clarissa closed her eyes for a second breathing deeply.
“We better turn this off now, you need to rest,” Jason said, but Clarissa stopped him as he pointed the remote at the TV.
“It’s Everett Cooper, I want to see the color of the Rainbow he caught this time, please, just a little more,” Clarissa pleaded with her weak sickened voice.
“You will have all the time in to see this show again and again starting tomorrow,” Jason answered, decided not to let her win this time.
“Or maybe not,” she answered, looking at the green sky through the window of her hospital bedroom. The second sun was going down for the night now and it was time to rest for rainbow catchers.
Jason took her hand and held it tight, like to give her his energy.
“We will have your rainbow tomorrow, you will be alright,” he said.
“I know we will have it, what scares me is what comes after,” Clarissa answered, fixing the television again to avoid looking at Jason’s worried face.
It was always the same, every day, Everett Cooper, the best rainbow catcher in all Polysky and probably in the all world, the best rainbow catcher of all time was presenting how he found and caught the rainbow of the day. It was always exciting, always difficult and he was always putting himself in danger, but in the end, he had the rainbow and could sell it to someone in need or if finding no takers would give them to the hospital to cure every disease.
"You want a rainbow, Everett is the man," he said in the TV winging at the camera before running back to work.

  2. A rainbow catcher, that's a beautiful concept. And the second sun rising brought an unique twist to the story. Why is she almost near death? It will be fascinating to read more of this story.
