Thursday Fiction 274: Parallel Slip

Welcome back to a new part of Parallel Slip, where we follow the adventures of Frederique through her slip in different parallel universes.

Let's start right where we left off last week.

It took me forever to get ready for bed and I knew it was foolish to delay the inevitable. I could have black out standing, hit my head on the corner of the desk and bleed to death just because I was waiting for Amy to call me.
As I brushed my teeth missing the back one and getting the front one until my gum bleed, I decided I had waited for her enough and that she would have to deal with whatever her problem was by herself.
The worse part was that I felt like my mother, controlling, and freaking out because I didn't have control over everything around anymore. I wondered if I had been making Amy feel as claustrophobic as my mother had made me. All the reading and studying was my idea and my way of doing things, the only thing she actually said she wanted was the extra classes and space dinosaurs and the salsa classes she was giving up on.
Then I wondered if she was giving up on the astrobiology too. Damn it! I couldn't help myself from thinking about her and I hated it because there was still nothing I could do about it. I couldn't undo the past and do something different in it.
I finally went to bed and fell asleep before she came back. I didn't notice falling asleep. I might have been really tired. Amy woke me up giggling with Tamara in the corridor and taking forever to open her door. People were coming back at anytime of the night on Thursday, just it had never been Amy before. I took a deep breathe, relieved that she was back at least that was one thing less to worry about.

Wednesday Snippet 276: Blue Angel

Welcome to a new part of Blue Angel unedited, we start right where we left off last time.

“Where had she been seen for the last time? What are the information you have on her whereabouts? The list of all people who have been cured in this world and others since her disappearance,” Isakael said.
This was really the kind of information he had been looking for here so there was no lies anywhere near.
“Really?” Ezechiel said.
“Yes, I will try to clear up a piste to determine where she can be, you see the demon or the human world is a bit vague for me, those are very large places and there are several dimension to the demon world as well,” Isakael said dancing from one feet to the other. That was a bad thing to do, that showed a lack of confidence and he knew it better than anyone else but he couldn't stop himself.
“And of course you know that because of your little demon friends,” Ezechiel said laughing closing the last drawer.
He didn't seem to have found anything suspicious but Isakael wasn't near to let his guard down.
“It is important for us to find her, if she goes healing any demons she finds things might turn disastrous,” Isakael said.
That he really believed. He decided to give his all and put his hands on the desk, bending over it in front of Ezechiel. “Give me those information and I swear I'll find her.”
“Angels are not supposed to swear,” Ezechiel said placing his hands crossed in front of his face. “I don't like you, you are just like Evrael, noisy and never thinking straight. Someone will find her but that won't be you, you can be sure of that.”
“Then, you won't mind me dealing with her the way I see fit when I find her,” Isakael said.
“And what might that be,” Ezechiel answered.

Tuesday Travel 65: Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Welcome to Tuesday Travel. Every Tuesday, I will be presenting an excerpt of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire, the book in which Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul, is undertaking an initiatory journey.

About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

The fire stew had mostly nothing to do with fire except for the fact that in was backed in an oven. It was mostly composed of potatoes and cheese with some beef and some sort of raisin juice that had fermented into something winy but not alcoholised yet. It sounded pretty strange. The legend said that at the time when the demons still ruled the earth, there was a maiden who was supposed to be offered to the demons as the yearly sacrificed and that she was a really good cook.
On the night before her sacrifice, she prepared a stew for her parents in an old pot normally used to put wine in the ground until maturation. She had only potatoes to prepare it and water as they were a very poor family. As she added water to the pot, the wine depot on the side which had dried many years over started to turn the water into wine. She thought the potatoes were wasted so she took the pot with her to the demon's cave the next day. It was the first time the Fire Lions appeared. They cooked the demons in their cave and demon flesh felt in the pot, which is now replace by beef because there isn't any demons around. Then for the cheese it apparently just tastes better that way.
Brownie thought it was gross to eat demons it was almost cannibalism, she had never really thought about Sahel or his friends as non-human, except for the wings, they looked exactly like a person so just eating them was terrible. But she had no problem with the beef and even less with the cheese. She didn't remember when was the last time she had eaten something cheesy but it felt like way too long already.

Mystery Monday 68: Harajuku Kiss

Welcome Mystery Monday. For this weekly writing blog post, I will be presenting snippets of my novel Harajuku Kiss, a mystery romance in Japan.
I hope you'll enjoy following our heroine through her thoughts and adventures.

About Harajuku Kiss

At times, life can be so depressing. She is walking her usual recovery tour in Harajuku, finishing with a crepe, trying to forget that her boyfriend dumped her once again for the week-end... When the unthinkable happens... A boy stops in front of her in the street and kisses her, in the middle of the street, before running away.
Trying to discover more about him, she is dragged into a dangerous game of mystery. A biologist has been murdered and a deadly virus is on the loose. First suspect: the mysterious Harajuku's stranger.

Here is the snippet for this week

The old policeman looked up at me for a second before directing his attention back to the kids. I had to wait for my turn, no matter how much thrilling was what I had in hand compared to what these poor kids had probably done. I took my time to look around at the posters on the walls. The pictures of criminals wanted in all Japan were placarded messily on the top of each other. I wondered if it was efficient, if they ever found any of these people because they had their faces on the walls all day in front of them.
