Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 260

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet? Sign up to be part of our awesome Vampire Friday blog hop team! You know you want to!

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last week

“Come on, it’s over for today, sit down,” he said. I couldn’t believe it.
I put my sword back in its furrow too and took a chair near him.
“This vampire, do you like him?” my father said.
He was looking in the distance at something invisible on the other side of the room. I took Dylan’s bracelet out of my pocket and started to play with it.
“I don’t know, I have never seen anyone like him before,” I said.
“The world is vast, Viorel, vampire like us used to travel a lot, to see the countries, taste different blood, learn different languages to become powerful, learn how to make sword, learn magic and science. The world is filled with wonder and mystery,” he said.
“I know dad,” I answered.
“No, you don’t, that’s what this is all about,” he said standing up and spreading his opened arms in the air, he turned around to look at me.
“When I was your age, I had travelled, I had seen Europe, France, Italy, Greece, I had been to many places, I had seen the art and the live style of humans, you know nothing but the walls of this castle, you spend your days with your mother and she teach you about the wolves but you have never met them because it’s too dangerous for them and for you, you spend the rest of your day practicing with me skills that can never be fully developed until you need to fight for your life. You spend your night, hunting or with this human girl at the inn, it’s always the same, it’s always repeating itself and it makes me sick to see you, my own flesh and blood a prisoner in your own house.”
He seemed afflicted, I had never seen him like that.
“I have read about the world, I know things, languages, costumes…” I started.

Thursday Fiction 254: Parallel Slip

Welcome back to a new part of Parallel Slip, where we follow the adventures of Frederique through her slip in different parallel universes.

Let's start right where we left off last week.

"I don't have precognition, ok, I don't go to parties either, the only reason why I accepted this time over to go with Amy was because something bad had happened in another reality and I needed to make sure I was there to fix it again."
Alex handed me the diary and started the car back on. Once again he was looking straight in front of him.
"I'm sorry but I can't get my mind around it," he said.
"Then just tell me you believe me," I said.
"I'm trying to find a way to say this is no prove but I know you haven't tempered with the date," Alex said.
"Of course, I haven't," I said. What was he thinking telling my that? That I would temper with my own data to make them fit my theory?
"Ok, imagine I believe you and imagine this is real, why are you telling me all this?"
It wasn't difficult to imagine that it was real. It had been my reality for most of my life. I didn't want to imagine that he was going to believe me either, I wanted a real fact about it, I decided to take a chance. The same sort of chance I always took when I didn't know what to do in one of the other universe. The think I thought I was freaking good at until I made a mistake telling Tucker about our allies. The thing that I thought was the reason for my travel. Another probability.
"Listen Fin, I'm not asking you to..."
"What? What did you just said?"

Wednesday Snippet 256: Blue Angel

Welcome to a new part of Blue Angel unedited, we start right where we left off last time.

The dark shadow was moving fast, turning to the left turning to the right and the children were complaining loudly behind him.
He stopped when reaching a largest space and one of the children passed through him making the other laugh.
“Would you brads be quiet or I'll let you be drown and roasted by the Watchers!” he said angrily passing back to the front.
“What are you really?” a little girl asked as he moved through them looking for Sahel.
“I'm the nightmare giver,” the dark shadow answered not really wanting to discuss anything with them.
“Can I get back in, they are annoying me,” he said to Sahel pitifully.
“What is that?” Samira asked.
“Who? Who? I'm a person! Damn I hate girls!” the dark shadow answered.
“I still need you a little bit until we get them to the tower,” Sahel said.
“I don't like it,” the shadow answered.
“Really, I can't do it without you,” Sahel said knowing that praising him was going to make him cooperate more easily.
“All right, all right, but there are few watcher on the other side of this room guarding the exit,” the shadow said.
“Then I'll have to go first, stay here with Seti's sister and call me if you need,” Sahel said going through the children telling them what to do.
“Hey, I'm Samira by the way,” Samira said, she was getting tired of being called Seti's sister.
“Samira, well I heard from a guy called Taram that you're the best at creating storm and super scary so I'm happy you've got my back,” Sahel said entering the room.
“I have his back,” Samira said.
“Seems like it,” the shadow said.
“Demons don't get each other's back,” Samira said, “I don't know how to do that.”
“Well, if someone unfriendly come over here, you just give them all you've got,” the dark shadow said.
“Is that what he does? My brother?” Samira asked.
“Yeah, saving people around, traveling to other places,” the shadow said, “nothing your average demon actually do.”

Tuesday Travel 45: Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Welcome to Tuesday Travel. Every Tuesday, I will be presenting an excerpt of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire, the book in which Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul, is undertaking an initiatory journey.

About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

"What are you trying to do? Find water or something?"
The stone started spinning but this time Brownie wasn't even trying to do anything with it. the thing had a mind of its own, it always had had. And it was good because it had helped her out of danger many times but at the same time she couldn't make it obey either. She looked at the person who had spoken. It was a boy, about her age. He had a very large backpack on his back, which grew high than his blond head. He had intense blue eyes, which seemed very liquid, not really the color you would expect at a fire festival but than again, he wasn't a demon, there was no wings in his back, there were no horns on the top of his head. Brownie wondered when she had learned to check for that first when meeting someone. It was so strange, maybe when Yue had started to get in trouble with other demons. After all, it was more of a survival thing than anything else.
"I'm going to my hostel wanna check if they have some left over?" He asked.
They hadn't even exchanged their name yet.
"I'm fine," Brownie said.
"I guess you're new to all this, right? Run away who don't trust anyone in the street?"
"You guess wrong, I'm not a run away," Brownie said.
In a way she was but she didn't really see it that way. She just had to get out but she was planning to come back when she was done with what she needed to do, when she was done fixing herself. Still run away didn't plan on coming back so that was the difference.
"Well you don't look like a back packer either," the boy said showing off his large back pack.
"I like to travel light," Brownie answered.
"I see, well, I'll be going," he said.
And he move toward the road, and crossed it without really looking at the cars or anything. Brownie looked at the aquamarine again. It had stopped spinning.
"Come on, I'm not following a stranger and I'm not so lost anyway," she said out loud.
She put the aquamarine back around her neck and moved toward the nearby book stand. There were map so she picked up one that listed the hostel. She paid for it and opened it to see which hostel were the closer to the station. One was saying back packers and she stared at it considering. There was a chance it was the same hostel as the guy she had just met mentioned. Maybe she should try there first. If she found it on her own, it wasn't really as if she had followed him or anything. There were three others on the way so she would try those first and just pick the first one.
