Mystery Monday 95: Harajuku Kiss

Welcome Mystery Monday. For this weekly writing blog post, I will be presenting snippets of my novel Harajuku Kiss, a mystery romance in Japan.I hope you'll enjoy following our heroine through her thoughts and adventures.

About Harajuku Kiss

At times, life can be so depressing. She is walking her usual recovery tour in Harajuku, finishing with a crepe, trying to forget that her boyfriend dumped her once again for the week-end... When the unthinkable happens... A boy stops in front of her in the street and kisses her, in the middle of the street, before running away.

Trying to discover more about him, she is dragged into a dangerous game of mystery. A biologist has been murdered and a deadly virus is on the loose. First suspect: the mysterious Harajuku's stranger.

Here is the snippet for this week (Check out the previous snippet here

I deserved the best! The only silly thing about that was that in days like today, I would have deserved not to have to spend time on cooking. I kept laughing, my thoughts were going crazy and as far away from Seiji as they could.

When you focus on something for too long, it is very likely that your thoughts are going to go nuts afterward. The reason is: your ego is frighten of being kicked out because you focused on something else. It is the same with meditation. I had tried because one of my friend had told me that it was helping her to concentrate on what she had to do more easily and that it had stopped her insomnia. But every time I tried I had all these voices starting a fight in my head. So I had given up on meditating my way to efficiency. I had been giving up on a lot of things lately even on myself.

WeWriWar 346: The House at the Crossing 54

Hello everybody and welcome for a new Sunday of writing with Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday!

How are you doing? I found an abandoned turtle in the street. He was in a bad shape. His name is Mozart.

Let's continue with  "The House at the Crossing" and it's a prequel to Demon Soul and the demon series. It's a bit of a mix of Fantasy and Science-fiction.

It follows one of the books more obscure character as she first comes into the House. It's supposed to explain why there are so many people is the house and sort of where they come from and at the same time be a first time adventure for the main character as she needs to adapt to her new role and the new version of who she is.

Let's start right at where we left off last time, let's meet Wendy.

“We know my dear,” Aunt Teresa says.
“Come join us to the kitchen, these two need a bottle.”
Hiroshi is crying again. I take a crying Ryan from Aunt Teresa and I'm feeling a bit ashamed of myself for reacting this way to Wendy but I don't know her and I don't know what she is either.
“People in this house, no matter who they are don't hurt each other,” Teresa says as if she can read my mind.
I glance at Wendy who is following us. I can't pinpoint what I actually feel which is pretty rare for me. I would think that with all the different version of me inside me I would at least have a clue but no, we are all in sink, as if I am one and somehow, I wish I wasn't, then maybe I would have a clue.
My other self is still in the kitchen. I wonder when we are going to disappear, I mean from her point of you, I will be the one gone.

Thursday Fiction 299: Parallel Slip

Welcome back to a new part of Parallel Slip, where we follow the adventures of Frederique through her slip in different parallel universes.

Let's start right where we left off last week, with Frederique fainting into a different universe.

"You are seeing my memories?" It was my turn to feel violated, I had only shared her body and moved around with it and taken decision but she was seeing everything I had ever done. I was glad that somehow I didn't have a boyfriend yet. I didn't want to share my first kiss with anyone, even another part of me in a different universe.

"Of course, you are taking over my life, it's normal I take over yours even if I'm still in this body with you," she said.

"I never saw your memories, I have no idea about what your life was like before the first moment when I came here and I have also no idea what your life has been in between my visits."

"Your life is so strange, sometimes you are in very strange places."

So she was traveling too, she was getting my memories from the other universes.

"Stop it, ok, stop looking at my life," I said.

"It's not like I have control over what's going through me, I see everything and every time all at once, it's like it just belongs."

This was becoming creepy.

"Teach me how to travel."

"Oh no, no, no, no, no!" That escaped me before I could master the thoughts. "I mean, I don't know how I do it, it just happens. I'm the only one person I know who can do it. In my universe, everybody think I'm sick."

The truth was I wanted to know how I did it but I didn't want her to know. I didn't want anyone else to know. It would result in a terrible mess. What if she was right? What if she was supposed to be the one sliding from universe to universe and I wasn't. Then would we end up both slipping away whenever we desired or would her somehow birth right give her the advantage and made her the only one slipping. Then what would I do. My entire life was messed up because of it. My mother had made my childhood hell going to the hospital with no normal play or sport like the other kids. Everyone from back home thought I was the bizarre girl.

Wednesday Snippet 302: Blue Angel

Welcome to a new part of Blue Angel unedited, we start right where we left off last week.

We continue with Isakael being mad at everybody for the state of the living room.

He was back in front of her as if it was all her fault they opened the portal in the first place and somehow it was but he wouldn’t have formulated the blame openly, at least not yet.

“We’re working on it,” Gideon said just to rescue her.

He wasn’t really in the mood to fight with Isakael just now, they had been throwing things back in the Demon World for the whole night and he wasn’t even sure when that was going to stop. He needed sleep, a lot of it.

“Then you better work faster,” Isakael answered.

“It’s rather fun,” Dylan answered.

“Until something comes out you can’t handle,” Isakael said.

“Then what do you suggest? Because so far you haven’t been much help except for blaming us for everything. It’s easy to say it’s our fault when you weren’t even here. What were we supposed to do? Leave Brownie die in the Demon World? Let them prepare to take everything over? That’s what you are suggesting?” Sahel was mad now.

He always respected Isakael somehow he seemed to be the calm and wise one after Viorel and at least he wasn’t drinking blood.

“Leave it,” Brownie said putting an hand on his arm.

Sahel didn’t feel like calming down just yet.

“Maybe,” Isakael answered.

They all looked at him puzzled. He walked out of the room and stopped at the door.

“I wasn’t there, you’re right. I wasn’t there. It’s not my problem. You fix it. I’m done dealing with your mistakes every freaking time.”

He didn’t even look at them, didn’t wait for an answer. He just walked out.
