Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 283

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet? Sign up to be part of our awesome Vampire Friday blog hop team! You know you want to!

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last week

I thought about Sorina, I hoped that they were feeding her properly after having transformed her, there was nothing worse than the thirst for a vampire and even more for a new born. The blood was feed with something that we needed and that human were getting by eating food but we could only get it through blood. The first symptom of blood deprivation of the vampire was the body clumsiness, it was becoming difficult to walk, to move, to hold things, the vampire would crawl on themselves and wait until an easy prey was to come, sometimes the Jäger were feeding them animals and it worked. But never for long, it seemed that animal blood was more difficult for the vampire to absorb than human blood, after still had a human shape. They noted day by day the details of the agony of the poor new born who had fallen into their hands, vampire who had never killed nor taken a single throatful of blood, fangs which had never dug into someone’s neck. Just the thought of it made me want to go outside and take a revenge on the humans for what they had done. There was absolutely no mercy and no chances of absolution. They had been readying the bible to the vampire day and night and said that the holy scriptures were driving the vampire insane but I doubted it, what the vampire was resisting was worse than few words, no matter how old they were or where they were coming from. What they were trying to resist was their entire body collapsing and drying from inside, the lack of blood becoming more and more intense each day, their skin crackling, their muscle atrophied and unable to more, it would take about six years of a long agony for a vampire to die six years in which they would only learn hatred for the humans. If they were fed little animals like cats, dogs or rabbits they could last longer, one had been said to last twenty years with a monthly animal to feed out of, he had the curious habit of cutting the blood deprived animal body into little pieces after removing the skin and to chew and swallow them. I had never seen a vampire do that, as far as I was concern, when I was at the closet of my vampiric personality and needs I would never try human food. The poor vampire must have been very desperate or maybe trying to become human again. The journals said that after eating he would stay on the floor moaning and holding his belly.

Thursday Fiction 273: Parallel Slip

Welcome back to a new part of Parallel Slip, where we follow the adventures of Frederique through her slip in different parallel universes.

Let's start right where we left off last week.

We started after dinner. It was already 10pm and I didn't even have the energy or the motivation to go through it. I was worried about Amy, but going through my diaries was a way to keep me busy and keep me from sleeping or blacking out in case Amy would call.
I read the entries I thought were relevant like the time they occurred, how long they lasted and where I was taken while Alex entered the data's in his computer. We had decided to go through the brain scans later once we were done with this. Going through it, I couldn't see any patterns, it was just refreshing my memories about the different world I had visited since I started writing the diary. I saw that I had been visiting the spaceship's world a couple of time as a kid but only for a short time and of course never as the captain. My parents also seemed happy there.
It was a strange sensation to revisit my life with Alex. He didn't ask questions. He didn't say much. I wonder if it was concentration or if he had something else on his mind. We decided to call it a night around 3am. We didn't even go half way through but I couldn't concentrate any longer.
Amy was still not back from the party, otherwise we would sure have heard her. I was certain to black out as soon as my head was to hit the pillow but I didn't tell Alex about it. If I was to be out for five hours again I didn't want to have him around to witness it. It was already embarrassing enough to have been to the hospital with him today and make him miss classes for me.

Wednesday Snippet 275: Blue Angel

Welcome to a new part of Blue Angel unedited, we start right where we left off last time.

Once again, Isakael was about to say something but Ezechiel interrupted him.
“I saw you talk with Evrael at the meeting earlier, you really have interesting acquaintance. So what is he planning this time?”
“Why don't you ask him?” Isakael said before he could even think about it.
He refrained from biting his lips. If he ever wanted to get out of here in one piece and go home he would need to face Ezechiel with all this power.
Against all expectation, Ezechiel started to laugh.
“I might, I might, what is more important now, is what are you doing in my office uninvited and how did you get in?”
“The door was open,” Isakael said.
As much as he could, he needed to say the truth, if Ezechiel believed he was telling the truth, at least for the large line, he wouldn't have any reasons to keep him here.
“The door was open, yes, it happens sometimes, I'm the kind of person who believe that angels are good and respectful people who don't sneak their noses into someone else's business,” Ezechiel answered.
“I don't think it's really reasonable though, I mean to leave your door open,” Isakael answered.
He was trying to be friendly but it was hard when the man in front of him was one of the most important angel in paradise and scary looking from this close up.
“So you came here to give me some advice,” Ezechiel said.
“Actually I came here to talk about Jezabel,” Isakael said.
“Really?” Ezechiel said moving closer to his desk. “And what is it that you want to talk about?”
“I want to know,” Isakael started but Ezechiel sat at his desk chair and started to open all the drawers one after the other as to verify that nothing was missing.
“You wanted to know,” Ezechiel said.

Tuesday Travel 64: Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Welcome to Tuesday Travel. Every Tuesday, I will be presenting an excerpt of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire, the book in which Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul, is undertaking an initiatory journey.

About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

"A table for six please," Josh said. "Rori from the back-packers said to say hi."
Brownie almost laughed at that, it was so not discreet, almost as bad as yelling hey we are staying at the back-packers can we eat here for half the price? But she didn't say anything and followed the others through the restaurant to a back room. The restaurant was almost entirely made of wood. The floor was made of wood and so were the walls, the ceiling, the table, even the fan turning slowly on the ceiling was made of wood.
That seemed rather dangerous in a city known for its fire. Brownie sat at the table's corner next to Samantha with Marri in front of her. She was still looking inside of Samantha's book, there was an historical part classifying Fireden as the most burned down city in the entire country. Fire would spread from the forest nearby. There had also been pyromaniac accidents, and of course some unexplained phenomena apparently at the hands of the Lions. The inhabitant didn't really care about having things burned down as long as the Lions where involved with fighting the demons. On several occasions, a minor fire had turned into an incredible brazier turning down the entire city to ashes, just because people wanted to help the Lions feed the earth. Feed the earth, the fire feeds the earth with ashes, Brownie finally figured that one out and smile.
"Anything interesting," Josh asked from across the table.
"You better look at the menu," Samuel said.
Brownie gave the book back to Samantha and checked out what to order. She was more than ok with some Fire Stew.
