WeWriWar 308: The House at the Crossing 13

Hello everybody and welcome for a new Sunday of writing with Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday!

I decided to change things a little bit so for the next few months, I'm going to present you my new WIP. It's called "The House at the Crossing" and it's a prequel to Demon Soul and the demon series. It's a bit of a mix of Fantasy and Science-fiction.
It follows one of the books more obscure character as she first come into the House. It's suppose to explain why there are so many people is the house and sort of where they come from and at the same time be a first time adventure for the main character as she needs to adapt to her new role and the new version of who she is.

Since it's a WIP, and I still haven't finished the first draft, it's still really row. Hopefully, we'll see some improvement as it goes.

Let's start right at where we left off last week!

We are all watching her, as if all of us were going to ask a very different question.
Then a new question pops in my head. “Am I real? If there are other me, then who is the real one. I feel real, but are they real too, at least if they feel real they probably are real and then what does that say about me...”
The room seems to close around me a bit more, like it's going to hug me, it's not menacing but I can't help myself and stand up and pull Hiroshi's crib a bit closer to me. It takes me a moment to realized that the other me with the twins is doing the same.
“I was expecting more,” Aunt Teresa said. “I sent the letters to all of you, but I guess some got lost in the probabilities. Even when you start at 100%, sometimes, things can turn out unexpected.”

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 251

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet? Sign up to be part of our awesome Vampire Friday blog hop team! You know you want to!

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last week

“Are your people going to do something?” her father asked me before I could even reach her.
“The meeting went as it went but not as I wished it had been,” I answered.
“What is that even supposed to mean?” he said.
Sorina came to hug me and I hugged back it was something her parents couldn’t conceive but she was mine and it was the only thing that had kept the other to drink from her so far so they didn’t dare to say anything.
“It means that my uncle first tried to have the other leave you alone but that he wasn’t heard so he told them to walk away, they are not welcome on our land anymore,” I said.
“this is a good thing,” Sorina’s father answered walking behind his counter and starting to clean up the dishes with fresh water.
“They are unpredictable, they have come all this way to get answers from us and they are not going to leave because my uncle asked them too. There are more numerous than us. It would have been more judicious to compromise with them there is nothing to be done now, my uncle and their leader just insulted each other. I have no idea what the consequences would be but I know for sure that it can’t be good,” I said.
Sorina’s father looked at me. There was some sort of fear and pain in his eyes.
“Will you take my wife and daughter to the castle, those monsters can’t hurt them there,” he said.
I knew how hard it was for him to ask that from me but I also knew that if they were protected from the British, they would also be at the mercy of my clan and there was a large chance for them to be changed and used as slaves for all eternity. I couldn’t do that, no matter how much I wanted to be with Sorina day and night and to protect her, I couldn’t take that risk. In the castle, I felt even more powerless than outside, there was nowhere to hide and nowhere to run.
“I’m sorry but I can’t do that,” I said.
“Why not, they all know Sorina is not for drinking and they won’t touch her if you ask them not too,” he said angrily.
“That’s something I can’t guaranty and I don’t want to take the risk. It’s better for them to hide in the sheepfold during the night and I’ll help them cross the village,” I started.

Thursday Fiction 245: Parallel Slip

Welcome back to a new part of Parallel Slip, where we follow the adventures of Frederique through her slip in different parallel universes.

Let's start right where we left off last week.

"I want you to contact me at the first difficulty. I want you to be send here for any black out lasting longer than average eiter you are awake or not. Would that work for you?"
"I can do that," I said.
"We could keep you here for a few days too," the doctor said.
"I know but there is still nothing you can do to me," I said.
He sighed.
"There are few drugs we haven't used yet," he said. "After the result on the first one, your mother didn't want to hear about it."
"She knew there were unexplored possibilities but preferred to rush me here without any treatment than to try them out?" I asked in disbelieve. I had been so sure they tried out everything. I had been so sure she was trusting the doctor completely. I couldn't imagine what she was trying to achieve by sending me here on a daily basis without going for any medication.
"She wanted us to fix you, she wanted us to work some magic and have you walk out of here cured. I told her it didn't work that way, that taking brain scans was only a way to monitor what was going on and see the changed but she didn't think about it this way. I don't know what she really wanted and we couldn't give you any medication without parental consent. Now if you would want to try it, we could start slowly and work up the best dosage," the doctor said.
"I need to think about it," I said. "Could you give me a list of the potential side effects?"
"Here you go," the doctor said giving me a brochure about this new drug I had never heard of.
This was new. I wondered if they would totally remove the black out or allow me a control on them, like only having them at night when I was safe. That would be a progress.

Wednesday Snippet 247: Blue Angel

Welcome to a new part of Blue Angel unedited, we start right where we left off last time.

“Prepare to run when I say so and to meet others at the top,” Kamaril said without moving “and you can kill them,” He added for enphasis. “What?” Lonan asked.
It all came out at once, as if Kamaril was releasing all the water which had been held in the rocks of the cave, in the ground, in the air itself, a wave formed bellow him and rushed in fracas toward the bottom of the stairs, splashing around. Lonan licked the drops which had fallen on his lips, it was salty really. He looked at Kamaril amazed. It wasn't the first time he had seen him use his power but it was the first time he realised who Kamaril really was. The cave bellow then was floaded and the level of water seemed to be rising.
“Now, that should at least slow them down,” Kamaril said turning around and pushing Lonan to run up the stairs. It didn't matter who was at the top anymore, they had no choice but to fight.
“You are Poseidon, aren't you?” Lonan asked.
“Yes, something like that,” Kamaril answered.
“That's so cool!” Lonan answered.
Kamaril pushed him up to run fly faster. He wasn't in the mood to talk about his identity.
“Can you talk to fish? Have you seen mermaid? How is it to live under the sea? Is the water always really cold?” Lonan asked in one breath. “Let's talk about that later,” Kamaril said.
“When? When? When?” Lonan asked stopping to jump up and down in front of him.
“You have two choice, either you climb the damn stairs and stay fucking quiet and might decide to take you out of here with me to get an ice cream and talk about how it is to live under the sea and idiotic stuff like that or you can stay in my way just long enough for me to drown you like I did those guys downstairs and believe me I will and that water is cold but I can make it ice cold especially for you,” Kamaril menaced, “So what is it going to be?”
“You're so boring,” Lonan said turning around to climb the stairs again.
