Mystery Monday 230: Murder at the Conference 127

Hello mystery lovers and welcome to a new Mystery Monday.
I hope you had a great week-end. Here is a new little part of Murder at the Conference. Murder at the Conference is a stand alone sequel to Harajuku Kiss.

We start right were we left off last week:

If we had been out, he would have hugged me but in the car, he just shook my hand and closed the door behind Margaret before going to take a seat next to my supervisor.

“I hope this one is not giving you too much trouble, is she?” Alistair said with a glance at me.

“No, not at all, she works really well, really well,” my supervisor said.

“Lucky fellow, she used to be such a nuisance knocking at my door all the time,” Alistair answered laughing.

It was true, I couldn't help myself. I always needed things from him, be it computer programs or just results. He knew his code so well that he could probably type in input files with closed eyes. I could see that my supervisor was a little bit uncomfortable.

“I'm sure you enjoyed me being annoying,” I said.

“I miss it sometimes. We only have shy students now. Nobody to terrorize their supervisors.”

I didn't think I ever terrorized anyone, I was one of the shy introvert one. I just wasn't afraid to ask guidance at the time, like I am now. Somehow, I longed for my younger self.

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 444

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet?

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last time.

For one second and one second only I felt the resistance break and I passed through the man's mind barrier. I implanted the idea, I repeated my sentences twice going further and further in his mind. He let down the pitchfork and moved backward.

"What are you doing?" The woman asked, she was terrified. I smiled at her as I passed in front of them.

"Everything will be alright," I said pushing the thought in her mind. "Just go back to your room now, go back to your room."

There was no resistance in her. Her mind was so clear and limpid. She wouldn't survive the day without that man next to her and she was filled with fear and anger. She looked at me blankly. Irina passed in front of them as far away as possible.

"I don't like them," she said.

"I don't like them either," I whispered. "But they won't do anything to you."

Thursday Fiction 434: Parallel Slip 2: Rebel

Welcome back to a new Thursday Fiction, it's been a while. We continue with Parallel Slip 2: Rebel where we left of last time, following Isabelle as she figure out who she really is.

“We are not escaping?”

“Of course not, the best way to hide is in plain sight at least for me. For you, I have a special place.” Eric said.

It didn't sound as good as expected suddenly. She had hoped for a Bonny and Clyde sort of escape but Eric couldn't do that. He had his grand-father to take care of and he didn't know her. She was almost mad at Romulus for dragging him into this.

“Maybe my mother won't tell anyone, that way, if I unexpectedly die, she will just have to pretend to be inconsolable,” Isabelle said.

“I don't think that's true. I'm sure she would be devastated if something happened to you,” Eric said.

“There is a part of me that wishes you were right but there is another one that's really not sure,” Isabelle said.

Wednesday Snippet 436: Fairy World 77

Welcome back to Wednesday Snippet. This week, we continue with Fairy World unedited just where we left off last week

"You can stay here if you want, just don't get out of the circle once we're started. I would prefer you out of it if you need to go call someone," Brownie said putting the candles on the floor next to Kallisto.

"I said I won't let you do it," Evalynn said.

"You have no choice. I can do it from my bedroom but that would increase the risk slightly," Brownie said.

"You have no idea what you are doing?"

"What are you so afraid of?" Brownie asked. "Kallisto is my sister. I'm getting her before things turn ugly."

"She already closed that portal. She is pretty good," Samira answered.

"Where is that vampire?" Evalynn asked.

"Viorel, in the basement. Why?"

Evalynn stormed out of the room before Brownie could add a word to stop her.

"She is getting Viorel, want me to keep and eye on her?" The Dark Shadow asked.

"No, keep an eye on us, until she comes back. I'll feel better with Viorel in the room anyway."
