Thursday Fiction 436: Parallel Slip 2: Rebel

Welcome back to a new Thursday Fiction, it's been a while. We continue with Parallel Slip 2: Rebel where we left of last time, following Isabelle as she figure out who she really is.

She let her fork down, maybe eating wasn't such a good idea after all.

“I think that Romulus will never let anything happen to you,” Eric said.

“Why are you so sure?”

“Because he wouldn't be able to set a foot in Hamelin if he did.”

Isabelle didn't quite understand but she didn't question him any further. She tried to eat a bit more but the food was hard to swallow in her dry throat which was tightening with each thoughts of the future.

“Here,” Eric reappeared from the kitchen with a glass. “Ginger ale, you're favorite, right?”

It was true that ginger ale was her favorite, though she didn't know if she could survive the bubbles just now but she didn't say anything about it.

“How do you know this?”

Wednesday Snippet 438: Fairy World 79

Welcome back to Wednesday Snippet. This week, we continue with Fairy World unedited just where we left off last week.

Now was the hardest part. Concentrate to get into Kallisto's mind. Brownie had already visited Sahel's mind and her own mind through past lives but it was her first time dealing with a fairy. They both sat next to her and Brownie spread the preparation on her sister's forehead trying not to think how easier it would be if they were real, blood related sister. She took a deep breath and placed the rest of the preparation on her own forehead sensing the connection form. It was not a bad feeling, it was calm and smooth a bit like water on a lake in spring. That's what Kallisto felt like, no matter how far she was gone into herself, Kallisto was still in there. Brownie took Samira's hand in hers and attached them with her thin purple scarf. It's not that she didn't trust the young demon for the job, it was more like she didn't trust what they were going to see. She pushed away thoughts of salamanders trying not to smile but it was a bit difficult. Fierce Samira scared of an inoffensive little lizard, so strange.

Tuesday Travel 234: Witch Raising: The Book of Earth 81

Welcome to Tuesday Travel. This week we are following Brownie on her journey as she is going toward the second element: Earth.

About Witch Raising.

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt starts right where we left off last week.

The door was only sliding so much and the cause was they weren't made to be closed manually they were only able to open manually in case of emergency.

Brownie didn't want to leave the door open unattended for the demons to get in but all things considered if the hunters and apparently Daphy had been able to get in, there was no way to keep the demons out, at least, none that she could think of just now.

“Forget about it,” she said. “Let's just get the second guy out.”

Daphy rolled her eyes and went back inside the wagon. The other guy was closer to the door but they had to move two people on the side before being able to reach him.

“I'm in pain everywhere, Cake, my body is going to collapse under the weight of this one. I hope that you have a good reason for all this,” Daphy said yawning.

“I have,” Brownie said. “There are demons outside and... hush.” Brownie dropped her side of the body and came closer to Daphy.”

Mystery Monday 231: Murder at the Conference 128

Hello mystery lovers and welcome to a new Mystery Monday.
I hope you had a great week-end. Here is a new little part of Murder at the Conference. Murder at the Conference is a stand alone sequel to Harajuku Kiss.

We start right were we left off last week:

The taxi driver finally got in. Someone stood at his window asking at which hotel we were going. It was a bit of a mix but we still managed. Of course, Christa, the student and I were at the cheapest while the professors were somewhere a bit more fancy. Still, I had chosen mine because it offered breakfast. At conference it was sometimes difficult to figure out what or where to eat on a budget so it was always a good idea to at least have breakfast at the hotel. Especially that so far, there was little English used as all. The people supposed to take care of us were debating something or others in Chinese.

The road to the hotel was long, mostly highway but they had very strange red light on it. I don't think I had ever seen such large road with signalization light on them before. The ride was fast and scary and the driver would brake heavily at every red light. I wasn't the only one having trouble with the driving. Margaret was clinging at her seat-belt with both hands. I hadn't been in a car in a long time. I hadn't been in a car since the day of my attempted kidnapping. I wasn't used to the driving or the road anymore. Living in Tokyo, it was easier to take the train everywhere.
