WeWriWar 337: The House at the Crossing 43

Hello everybody and welcome for a new Sunday of writing with Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday!
Happy New Year Everyone!
As a New Year Resolution I'm trying to get back to a more regular writing routine. We'll see how it goes.

Let's continue with  "The House at the Crossing" and it's a prequel to Demon Soul and the demon series. It's a bit of a mix of Fantasy and Science-fiction.

It follows one of the books more obscure character as she first comes into the House. It's supposed to explain why there are so many people is the house and sort of where they come from and at the same time be a first time adventure for the main character as she needs to adapt to her new role and the new version of who she is.

Let's start right at where we left off last week !

The house is strange. It seems that the walls are moving as Teresa progresses in front of me in the corridor. There are stairs near the entrance door but they are flickering in and out of sight as if they only partially exist so I avoid looking at them. I remember from the outside that the house had only one floor. There shouldn't be any stair. Unless they are going to the attics.

“The house will stabilize once you know what you want it to look like, until you need changes of course,” Teresa says. “It doesn't affect the other inhabitants.”
“You're not alone here?” I ask.

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 293

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet? Sign up to be part of our awesome Vampire Friday blog hop team! You know you want to!

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last week.

“The horses walked all night, they are too tired, they need rest and I suggest you do the same. After the night we had you must be exhausted,” I said standing up.

Irina kicked her shoes off and lay on the bed turned on the other direction as if she didn’t intent to resonate with me again.
“Don’t lock the door,” she said as I walked out.
During the last two weeks I had come over my fear of her running away, she wasn’t really my prisoner anymore, so I didn’t lock the door. I wasn’t sure what to think about her story of dragons. I sounded a bit unrealistic to me. As far as I was concerned, dragons only appeared in tales. Then I knew Nicolas would have asked, where does the idea of dragons come from? What about vampires aren’t they also belonging to tales only? What about the philosopher stone? Did someone ever manage to create it and be young again? As far as the world was concern, I didn’t exist and Nicolas was dead. I decided to investigate the dragons a bit further. I walked down the stairs, Alexej was sitting at a table in the dining room.
“They have got dragons around here again,” he simply said to me as I walked near him. “I left the horse indoor they are too tired to walk and run now anyway, I’ll have to make sure they are safe when I let them out.”
It was as if Alexej was only interested in the horses. I wasn’t going to ask him how he liked his room. I could be direct with him without going through politeness and I appreciate that.
“What do you know about dragons, Alexej?” I asked.

Thursday Fiction 284: Parallel Slip

Welcome back to a new part of Parallel Slip, where we follow the adventures of Frederique through her slip in different parallel universes.

Let's start right where we left off last week.

"You mean that you are not using your other self's brain when you are in her body but still your own?"
"That would make sense wouldn't it? I can recall my memories but not theirs because I'm taping into my own brain, I can still sort of breath and have a heart beat and whatever bodily function are necessary during my black out state because my brain is still going here, and most of all, I have the brain scan showing activity in my brain and not activities I would have if I fainted. When you faint you have less blood coming to your body remember, and all sort of pre-black out side effect that I miss because, my brain is still highly active. So the theory here is. I black out and my consciousness is filled by the perception of the other universe. My brain is still active and reactive to the new reality and I'm still using it at the same time I am connected to my other selves bodies but not to their brain which remain two separates entities. And we can break the barrier between our two brains and communicate with each other. Now, all I need to figure out is how to break the barrier whenever I want to talk to the other me. That's brilliant."
I was so proud of myself for figure it out this far.
"So you mean your bodies, brain included, are separated on the material plan above Plank constant level because you can't physically travel to a parallel universe but under that level your minds are attached because you find yourself in a different body. Your brains are still separated on an atomic level because yours is functioning here without your consciousness really in it but you think you can communicate with the other mind of your other self because..."
Alex caught me at the top of the stairs before I could fall. We weren't too far from the first class room and I hoped that was where he would be taking me.

Wednesday Snippet 285: Blue Angel

Welcome to a new part of Blue Angel unedited, we start right where we left off last week

“You, the phoenix,” the smaller demon said, “Don't make me laugh!”
He rushed on Sahel as if he wanted to knock him out. Sahel started to understand Azazel's feelings about demons fighting like humans, he jumped in the air helping himself with his wings just before the demon touched him and kicked him at the back of his head while letting himself fall back, they were annoying.
“Are you going to fight me seriously or do you want to continue playing games?” Sahel asked.
“You are not the phoenix, you are just an annoying little brat. Get him! Get him!” the smaller demon yelled at the big one who might have been watching too much sumo fighting on the sport channel because he clapped his hands on his knees before rushing to Sahel head first.
Sahel wasn't in the mood to play anymore. He greeted the demon's top of the head with an opened hand filled with fire and the fire quickly propagated to his hair and clothes. He was yelling all he could trying in vain to direct his water power to extinguish the fire. He seemed to be dancing to make the rain fall as he couldn't keep his balance. The second demon throw him water bubbles which missed their target several times before finally hitting him a little bit too strongly on the head and he felt on the ground rolling on himself like a baby with a high fever.
“Come here phoenix, meet my waters,” the smaller demons yelled at Sahel.
The kids were watching near the entrance not really hidden. Sahel knew that he needed to finish the fight quickly. He let the phoenix come to him and cried with his piercing voice. The demons all around bent themselves with their hands on their ears and Sahel placed his last blow, flying through the chest of the little demon all fire. He stood up on the other side turning quickly to make sure that the demon had fallen at least long enough for him and the kids to be far way if he was to ever wake up.
“Wow, Sahel! You're awesome,” one of the kids said rushing toward him.
“Stay back!” Sahel yelled.
