Thursday Fiction 265: Parallel Slip

Welcome back to a new part of Parallel Slip, where we follow the adventures of Frederique through her slip in different parallel universes.

Let's start right where we left off last week.

I pulled away from Alex as the thought hit me.
"What is is?"
"I put her in charge, I put her in charge, I can't believe I have been so naive. I put Fanny in charge of the communication even when Fin said it was a mistake and damn I put her in charge because I thought Amy was a good person and that I could trust her but she could be the one doing the sabotage..."
"Wait, I can't follow you," Alex said both hands on my shoulder.
"The spaceship, I messed up because the two realities somehow looked so much alike with you and Amy being there."
"Well, you'll fix it when you get back," Alex said.
"If I get back and if it's not too late," I said. "The thing is I somehow think that I can travel because I fix things in the different universe, things that my other selves can't deal with."
"But they have more information than you, or do you have all their memories when you reach the place?"
"I don't have more information, I only thought I did," I said.
"My point of view is that at some point this universe and the universe you visit has some sort of event bringing them closer from your point of view and that's why you're pulled there," Alex said, "I don't think you have anything to really take care of, you are just an observer of some sort for the time until the singularity is resolved and the universes separate again."
"That would make sense but I still totally screwed up."

Wednesday Snippet 267: Blue Angel

Welcome to a new part of Blue Angel unedited, we start right where we left off last time.

“You fly up there, put your hand in the rain, let the water go down your arm until your elbow then it will drop on me and we are out of here,” Kelpie said.
Jezabel bite her lower lips trying not to laugh.
“You know, nobody can change into a horse and travel through wall this way,” Jezabel said.
“We are not going to travel through walls, we are going to travel through water,” Kelpie answered.
“That's not possible either you know, it doesn't exist, that sort of thing, only the devil can do it, maybe, I'm not even sure,” Jezabel said.
It came to Kelpie's mind that she probably never saw a Kelpie before, she probably never even saw anything else than angels before. This world would totally be the end of her if he didn't open her eyes quickly. He put his hands on her shoulders.
“You can't really know that until you try,” he said.
Jezabel chuckled.
“Alright, I'll try but just you know, don't be too disappointed if it doesn't work, I'll still love you all the same,” she said.
“What?” Kelpie said standing up straight suddenly wondering if he had heard correctly.
“So I'm going,” Jezable said looking up as if nothing special had happened.
This girl was really getting weirder and weirder. She started to rise slowly. She reached the window with ease and Kelpie felt a bit relieve to see her out there well balance with her white arm getting through the thick wall to get to the rain. The water started to leak along her arm.
“The rain is really strong and it's cold too,” she said.

Tuesday Travel 56: Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Welcome to Tuesday Travel. Every Tuesday, I will be presenting an excerpt of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire, the book in which Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul, is undertaking an initiatory journey.

About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

"Apparently," Brownie said.
"Apparently," the boy laughed. "We were going out for dinner, care to join?"
He pointed at a group of people he had probably just met and who were already unpacking things. Two girls seemed to be traveling together, they looked just a bit older than Brownie and with the same Asian eyes Saphira had and the same long black hair. They didn't seem scared about sharing a room with boys which seemed a bit weird to Brownie until one of the boys came over and kissed one of them before putting something in her bag. So maybe that was a group of three. There was another girl sitting on a corner bed, her face hidden by the book on the festival she was reading. Brownie didn't know if she was with the others or even if she was going to come out for diner.
Going out with strangers for diner wasn't really how Brownie had planned it. She had though she would be alone during the entire trip until she reached the coven, if she ever found it. On one hand she also wanted to be alone, she had a lot of thinking to do. On the other hand she didn't remember when she had any sort of quality time with any sort of friends or even went out to diner with anyone.
And how else would she met people anyway. She needed to work on her trust issues with humans or maybe with just anyone otherwise she would never fit in the coven if she needed to do some magic with them.
"Ok, I can join," she said.
"Brilliant," one of the girls answered. "What do you want to eat because we are vegetarian but the boys insist that we stop for the day because they have a special fire stew that they don't want to miss."
"Won't the fire stew be better during the festival," Brownie said.
She didn't really feel like eating something super spicy that would make her sick after her three days sleeping.

Mystery Monday 59: Harajuku Kiss

Welcome Mystery Monday. For this weekly writing blog post, I will be presenting snippets of my novel Harajuku Kiss, a mystery romance in Japan.
I hope you'll enjoy following our heroine through her thoughts and adventures.

About Harajuku Kiss

At times, life can be so depressing. She is walking her usual recovery tour in Harajuku, finishing with a crepe, trying to forget that her boyfriend dumped her once again for the week-end... When the unthinkable happens... A boy stops in front of her in the street and kisses her, in the middle of the street, before running away.
Trying to discover more about him, she is dragged into a dangerous game of mystery. A biologist has been murdered and a deadly virus is on the loose. First suspect: the mysterious Harajuku's stranger.

Here is the snippet for this week

He didn’t kill him, it’s impossible,” a soft voice said inside of my head.
You can’t know that,” the voice of the reason answered a lot less softly.
A killer doesn’t kiss like that,” the soft voice answered.
You never kissed one before so you can’t know that,” the voice of the reason answered.
I just know,” the soft voice said not so softly anymore. It was the voice that always knew but I wasn’t paying much attention to it most of the time, I didn't know what it based it's knowledge on. I wasn’t paying much attention to the voice of the reason either after all.
Just go to the police tomorrow and just go to sleep now,” another voice said.
