WeWriWar 356: The House at The Crossing 64

Hello everybody and welcome for a new Sunday of writing with Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday!

How are you doing?

Let's continue with  "The House at the Crossing" and it's a prequel to Demon Soul and the demon series. It's a bit of a mix of Fantasy and Science-fiction.

It follows one of the books more obscure character as she first comes into the House. It's supposed to explain why there are so many people is the house and sort of where they come from and at the same time be a first time adventure for the main character as she needs to adapt to her new role and the new version of who she is.

Let's start right at where we left off last time, let's learn about the multiverse.

“It's not really supposed to, it's just the way it is,” Teresa says.
“That would mean that in every single universe, no matter how far apart they are, all the Wendys made the decision to come here at the exact same time,” my other self says.
She definitely isn't having it and I can't say she is wrong.
“It could be only one of me, it probably is,” Wendy says “but if it's a lot of us, I wouldn't know.”
“It makes no sense,” my other self says.
“Yes it does,” I answer and I'm a bit surprised by that but I think I just managed to rack my brain around it.
“I think there are several Wendies here, just, we only see the one from the universe we originally come from,” I say.
“Which once again makes no sense because my Wendy is giving a baby bottle not to a kid from your universe or part of mine so... oh my..”
“Exactly! We see her because we are actually from multiple universe,” I say.

Hum there is a hole in this theory... can you see it? More about that next week. ;)

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 319

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet? Sign up to be part of our awesome Vampire Friday blog hop team! You know you want to!

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last week.

“I knew it,” she said with a voice so strong, that I wonder where it could be coming from in her frail body, before fainting.
That was new, I had never really see her faint before but I still moved fast enough to catch her. I wonder what had made her faint, if it was my transformation or my naked body. She was wet and cold in my arms and I needed to hurry back before anyone else noticed that we had disappeared. Her seeing me change was a big enough trouble to deal with, I still didn’t have a plan about it. I knew she could keep a secret. She had kept hers until tonight and she would never have told me, she had told it to someone who she thought was unable to repeat it. And she had never told anyone that I was a vampire. She could have yelled it in the first inn, that she had been kidnapped, show them the bites. I vaguely recalled that she wanted me to change her to take her revenge. I didn’t really recall her words but my wolf form had understood her emotion and her situation. I was still unable to formulate clear human thoughts in my mind, I was moving on instinct and I was glad about it because I didn’t recognise the forest around me. The only thing telling me that we were in the right direction was that I could find and pick up my clothes on the way.

It was calm outside when we emerged from the forest. I deduced that everybody was still too busy to have been thinking about us. I attached Irina to the rope she had made herself with my bed sheet to escape from the bedroom. I still couldn’t believe that she hadn’t done it before to escape me, the thought of a human wanting to be changed into a vampire was alien to me. As far as my memory went, I had only seen human changed against their will or foolish guys like the new born vampire from Cosmin which probably wouldn’t have stood a chance to survive even if I hadn’t killed him. I dressed up as it was still the easier way to get my clothes up. They were really covered with mud and I would have to ask the inn keeper to get me a bath. Irina also needed one when she woke up. I climbed at the bed sheet first, it was more difficult than I had imagined, my coordination was lacking due to lack of blood and the feet I had hurt when jumping the first time was starting to make itself known again. I managed to reach the balcony anyway and pulled on the bed sheet to get Irina still unconscious up. She was heavier hanging from a rope than she had been in my arms but I still managed to get her up. I carried to her room, took off her dress and tried to remove the dirt on her body with a wet clothes. She was still fainted and I was grateful to be able to put a new dress on her before she woke up. Being undress before me would have been embarrassing for her, probably even more than seeing me naked. But the truth was that I was a bit afraid that she might try something. I still remembered her asking me if she could replace Sorina. I tried to wash her hair before putting her to bed but gave up rolling them and the top of her head in a cloth. She would have to do that herself. I put her in bed and made sure she had enough blanket. I went to my room and tried to clean myself up, and the mess, wondering how I would explain that I needed new bed sheet.
“What happened here?” the inn keeper said entering the room.

Thursday Fiction 308: Parallel Slip

Welcome back to a new part of Parallel Slip, where we follow the adventures of Frederique through her slip in different parallel universes.

Let's start right where we left off last time, with Frederique in the space ship's universe.

"Screw you Michelle, Captain or not you are a failure at it! And as a friend, you can demote me as soon as we get back I don't care! From now on, I'll be a mechanic because that's what I'm payed for! You want a shoulder to cry on someone to do your dirty work? You call my brother! I'm sure he'll be happy to help like the little doggy he has always been. Now leave!"

I turned around without a word. In this universe or the other there was no way I was going to get around Fanny or Amy this way. It was my fault, and my lack of people skills and Michelle seemed to be suffering with the same problem, unless it had been intentional or hypnosis related. No matter what the reason was, Fanny was not my friend anymore in here and I needed to find who had been playing with Michelle's brain all by myself. I had never been able to keep a friend but this was the first time I was being so mean to someone, in my universe or another.

I wanted to punish Amy, to shake her until she realised that cheating her way through university and letting me and her brother down was not the right thing to do. I knew she already knew it and that made it worse. Seeing Fanny here, looking just like her and yelling at me for something my other self had done, I couldn't take it. I was feeling so frustrated with everything right now that the only thing that might have calmed me down was to sleep it of. Or to use a punching bag but I needed to stop verbally assaulting everyone. This was no way to get around.

"Captain, what I are doing here?"  The man put his hand on my upper arm.  I felt a jolt of electricity go through me, "I thought I told you to stay in your cabin for the rest of the day."
I looked up at him but I couldn't place his face. I thought I had seen everyone on the ship and I wasn't too bad with faces. He was wearing a doctor long white blouse on top of his uniform, it hit me that normally doctors had a long blouse on the top but not a full uniform underneath.
"I might have been sleep walking," I said.
I don't think I was convincing because his grip on my intensified and he bent to look in my eyes and I looked away trying to avoid him. I could feel Michelle awaking inside of me and I wondered for a second if she would be able to take control and to tell him everything she knew. This was scary.
"Are you alright captain?" The man asked again.

Wednesday Snippet 311: Blue Angel

Welcome to a new part of Blue Angel unedited, we start right where we left off last time.

We are following Kamaril in the Demon World.

He headed for the door without hurrying, pretending to still be walking around. He was annoyed to have to resort to that kind of old tricks. He sworn to himself that when he was it full possession of his power he would just take whatever he wanted whenever he wanted without ever asking or bowing, for sure he wouldn't take orders from anyone anymore.
“Hey, you,” the demon said from behind the counter.
He had rather large horns, Kamaril was sure that he didn't buy his shop from the previous owner and that he didn't pay the normal price for anything that was on sale here. Kamaril pretended not to notice he was talking to him and continued to walk nonchalantly toward the exit.
“Hey, you, are you deaf?” the demon said turning around the counter to block Kamaril's exit.
“Me,” Kamaril said looking around and pointing at himself innocently.
“No, the neighbor's dog,” the demon said. “Of course you, stupid, where do you think you're going?”
“Home,” Kamaril said. He felt like he had no home but that was still strangely the first answer that came to his mind.
“And when do you think of paying for this,” the demon said pointing at the trident covered in black fabric on Kamaril's back.
“It's mine, I entered with it,” Kamaril said.
“You entered with a big broken rake and you made a bag for it in here,” the demon said. “Don't try to be the smartest with me.”
“You are very observant, aren't you?” Kamaril said.
“That's my job,” the demon said starting a move to grab the trident. “Now give me that.”
“That's not going to be possible,” Kamaril said.
