Wednesday Snippet 308: Blue Angel

Welcome to a new part of Blue Angel unedited, we start right where we left off last week.

fantasy-2750995_1920

We are at the house and Isakael is consulting with Saphira to try to locate the angel with blue wings

Saphira placed the pendulum in the center of the map and concentrated looking at the picture of Jezabel. She half closed her eyes and Isakael held his breathe. If she confirmed that Jezabel was in the Fairy World it meant that the permanent members of the conceal had agreed to send hundreds, thousand of them in the Demon World to be killed. He almost wanted to run away, he didn't really want the answer anymore. The picture of Jezabel dropped from Saphira's hand in front of him taking him out of his dream. He needed to know and to warn everyone, somehow, even if they wouldn't listen to him, he had to try.
Saphira's face seemed a lot rounder than usual, as round as the moon and pale. Her eyelids were moving rapidly as if she was looking at every corner of the worlds to find Jezabel. Isakael felt the urge to take her hand but refrained, afraid of breaking her concentration. He turned to look away, it seemed painful. For the corner of his eye he noticed that the pendulum had started to move into small circle. He focused all his attention to it. Trying to guess where it was going to fall. It seemed obvious but he wanted so much to be wrong. The circles were getting bigger and bigger passing at the center of each zone Saphira had drawn. Her hand in contrast was incredibly immobile as if the motion of the pendulum had no effect on her. Isakael followed the motion of the pendulum as it amplified and it brusquely stopped. Saphira didn't move for a while and Isakael hold his breath.
“Well, she is in the Fairy World, isn't she?” He finally said.
Saphira opened her eyes completely and smiled.
“Yes, I didn't lost my power,” she said happily, “your friend is really in the Fairy World.”
“Then I guess I'll just have to go look for her there,” Isakael said.
“You don't want me to figure out exactly were she is?” Saphira answered.
“I just have to follow that tracks of white fairy power, it can't be all that difficult, and it's not every day that the fairy would have an angel as guest, especially one with blue wings,” Isakael said looking at the pitiful map Saphira had been working with all along. The fairy world seemed very strange to him and very colorful.

About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

"Right, that's easier than actually explaining them I suppose," Samantha said.

"What language do you think they are in?"

"Something old and forgotten," Brownie said.

She looked at the notes Samantha was taking. It was completely different than what she saw, it had nothing to do with what she saw. She took a pen and a notebook out of her back and started to write her own version, not forgetting to actually place the tree in the middle and check where the shadow of the branches stopped, that could be a clue.

"Are you girls ready?" Josh asked. "They are starting to come down."

"You need to write down what you see," Brownie said.

"I don't need, I have a camera for that."

"You can't take picture of that, it won't show up," Samantha said.

Brownie didn't know how she knew that but that was still true.

"Seriously, they are going down and we are going to be late to the cave and I'm hungry, like really hungry, I could eat both of you and the lion."

"Well you're doing it for yourself," Samantha said.

She walked to the parade, the monk were leading followed by the dancer who weren't dancing anymore and the marching band that wasn't playing.

"Give me that," Josh said to Brownie.

She ended him a piece of paper and her pen. He quickly scribbled what he saw in the carvings around the tree. Brownie wonder if there were really people who didn't see anything and what made them all, her, Samantha, Josh and the monk able to actually see something. Josh fold the paper and put it in his pocket and handed her the pen.

"Let's go, or we are going to lose this girl, she had been trying to ditch me all morning," Josh said.

Brownie followed him to the crowd. There was no Samantha in sight. Now she was alone with Josh and she wasn't sure how she felt about that.

Mystery Monday 100: Harajuku Kiss

Welcome Mystery Monday. For this weekly writing blog post, I will be presenting snippets of my novel Harajuku Kiss, a mystery romance in Japan.I hope you'll enjoy following our heroine through her thoughts and adventures.

About Harajuku Kiss

At times, life can be so depressing. She is walking her usual recovery tour in Harajuku, finishing with a crepe, trying to forget that her boyfriend dumped her once again for the week-end... When the unthinkable happens... A boy stops in front of her in the street and kisses her, in the middle of the street, before running away.

Trying to discover more about him, she is dragged into a dangerous game of mystery. A biologist has been murdered and a deadly virus is on the loose. First suspect: the mysterious Harajuku's stranger.

Here is the snippet for this week (Check out the previous snippet here

He used his pass to open the door. The entrance was dark. There was nothing attractive here, no secretary to welcome you, no guarding team to wonder what you could be working on in the middle of the night, no plants to make you feel at ease. There was only a silver grey door to the elevator and cameras, a lot of surveillance cameras and check points at almost every step. More security than in a prison. Kaji knew that because he had visited his father in prison once. He pressed the button and waited. There was only one button. Only one option, to go down, underground. Research like his was not supposed to see the sunshine.

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 314

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet? Sign up to be part of our awesome Vampire Friday blog hop team! You know you want to!

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last week.

She had run a lot farther than I had expected and that worried me. In the state she was, in her mind she was still pursued by dragons who had probably killed anyone, anything could have happened to her. My nose sniffling the air in front of me, I ran, jumped the wood trunk fallen on the ground. When I found her she was sitting on the ground, her hands covering her ear, her face hidden in her knees, it was as if she was five years old again. I tried to speak but only a dog sound went out of my mouth. She startle and looked slowly raised her head. I saw the fear in her eyes growing when she looked at me, if her face hadn’t been so pale, she would have turned white again. For a moment, she didn’t move and I didn’t move either. I was too busy trying to figure out what to do to bring her back to the hotel to think about changing shape. I looked at her pondering. If she knew I was a wolf things would get even more complicated but I didn’t really have a choice. I had grown attached to this human and I couldn’t let anything bad happen to her. I took a step forward, slowly, it was my hunter instinct calling for the slowness of the movement, I could feel my leg tense, ready to jump on the prey as soon as it would move. Irina still didn’t move though, she just looked straight at me. The immediate fear of the wolf seemed to be replacing the far away fear of the dragon. Slowly she started to crawl away, just like she had done the day when I met her at the hotel. She was crawling like a worm still looking straight at me just like she had been crawling along the wall. She was completely wet and her night dress was tainted with mud. She had been running for her life, she didn’t care anymore about her weakness, about the dirtiness. Every move backward her bottom made on the floor every time I took a step forward. She made a movement to raise on her feet only, she was going to get up. I stopped in front of her. I was ready. The moment she started to raise I jumped on her, my front legs on her shoulder. She lay on the floor behind me. The sensation was incredible, I had my prey, the wolf in me knew it was over and I had to control myself a bit not to start the feast. I bring my nose closer and sniffled her, it was strange to behave like an animal without knowing exactly why. She closed her eyes tight and turned her head away expecting the worse. I licked her face.
