About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

“And I can take care of a demon or two,” Dylan said. “I sort of created myself a small demon army, very vicious little creature.”
“I have no idea what you are talking about,” Brownie said.
“Dylan just discovered himself a vocation for babysitting,” Viorel said.
He opened a drawer and took an white handkerchief out which seemed waiting. Brownie had no doubt what was inside.
“I changed it back to everything it was. No demons will see you or the people close to you, not even Sahel, we tested it, they won't hear you either,” Viorel said.
He handed the handkerchief to Brownie. She opened it and too the pendent. Memory flew back, the last time she had seen it was when Sahel was still a baby and she had to protect him. He was so sweet at that age and she was his hero. Now, it was all so far gone she didn't think he would ever look at her that way again. Their relationship seemed irremediably broken and running away without telling him was probably only make it worse.
“Thank you,” she said passing the medallion around her neck. And she meant it because the last thing she wanted to lose was Sahel but even with all the love in her heart, she knew nothing good would come from this relationship if she didn't drastically change the dynamic of it and right now she needed out. It was funny in a way how it seemed that the circled was just finished, it started with Yue running out on her and now she was doing the same thing to Sahel, the irony of it was eating at her.
“So where are you going?” Dylan asked.
“Somewhere is Erhland,” Brownie said.
“She can't even tell us,” Viorel said. “It needs to be her secret she can't leave any trail.”
“Sahel isn't that bad,” Dylan answer.
“It's not even Sahel I'm afraid of,” Viorel said, “he might try to bring her home, but it's the others I'm worried about, the demons want the witch, they have always said so. If anyone in this house knows anything about where Brownie is, it would put us, her and the witch coven over there in danger.”

Mystery Monday 28: Harajuku Kiss

Welcome Mystery Monday. For this weekly writing blog post, I will be presenting snippets of my novel Harajuku Kiss, a mystery romance in Japan.
I hope you'll enjoy following our heroine through her thoughts and adventures.

About Harajuku Kiss

At times, life can be so depressing. She is walking her usual recovery tour in Harajuku, finishing with a crepe, trying to forget that her boyfriend dumped her once again for the week-end... When the unthinkable happens... A boy stops in front of her in the street and kisses her, in the middle of the street, before running away.
Trying to discover more about him, she is dragged into a dangerous game of mystery. A biologist has been murdered and a deadly virus is on the loose. First suspect: the mysterious Harajuku's stranger.

Here is the snippet for this week

I loved guys like him, who didn’t deserve it, too easily, giving one hundred percent of myself. The guy only needed to be nice, as if nice wasn’t something compulsory.

I rushed a little bit more. I knew that with a crepe in my mouth I would stop thinking for a while. Who could resist chocolate and strawberry? Definitely not me! When I’m sad I just want to eat sweet stuff, that’s a fact and hopefully my body is working in a way that even after a week of doughnut diet I won’t put up a gram. My mum always said that I would go fat because I have my father’s body type, she got it wrong. Me, I’m good with my body without working out much for it as she always does. The only thing I’m working on is my brain and I should have use my dear brain power better to take myself out of this situation. Did I envisioned staying with that guy for the rest of my life? Though, we were technically not even together anymore.

WeWriWar 299: The House at the Crossing 4

Hello everybody and welcome for a new Sunday of writing with Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday!

I decided to change things a little bit so for the next few months, I'm going to present you my new WIP. It's called "The House at the Crossing" and it's a prequel to Demon Soul and the demon series. It's a bit of a mix of Fantasy and Science-fiction.
It follows one of the books more obscure character as she first come into the House. It's suppose to explain why there are so many people is the house and sort of where they come from and at the same time be a first time adventure for the main character as she needs to adapt to her new role and the new version of who she is.

Since it's a WIP, and I still haven't finished the first draft, it's still really row. Hopefully, we'll see some improvement as it goes.

Let's start right at where we left off last week!

An other cab stops in front of the house and I get out of it, me, or a different version of me. We have the same hair style, the same crib. It's too big for one baby because it was made for twins, initially, just the father of my babies took my baby girl and flew with her to Argentina. I have no way of finding where they are and after spending all my money to do just that, I couldn't pay the rent anymore and since I was distracted, I also lost my job. So that's why I'm here.
The other version of me, she looks just like me, we also wear the same clothes, she is just looking more tired and she had calluses on her hands. She looks at me and it's like looking at myself. Except I don't feel like myself anymore.

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 242

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet? Sign up to be part of our awesome Vampire Friday blog hop team! You know you want to!

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last week

He had said what needed to be said, the foreigners were on his territory and he wasn’t going to let them go against his authority. If Dylan’s father was wise enough, he would bow, put his hat back on and turn around to leave the inn with his people first. My uncle’s authority would shine through for our people and if Dylan’s father wanted to have another audience to put his matter through he would have to ask in few days and wait for an answer. But Dylan’s father was not the humans my uncle used to deal with, he was a vampire fully aware of his power and position with his people.
“We have a matter to discuss and we will discuss it now,” he said.
His voice was not pressing anymore. It was an order that couldn’t be dismissed. For the good of the human villagers we should have stayed in the inn and discuss the matter with him but for the sake of power, the affront had been made. My uncle made a sign with his hands and we prepared to leave.
“I will not tolerate your presence any longer, prepare to leave my territory immediately,” my uncle said.
He walked through the lines of the British vampires, they were looking at him with anger, we followed through, none of them made a move to stop him.
Dylan’s father was fulminating with rage and it was contaminating the ranks of his clan, I could feel it in their gaze, only Dylan seemed to be amused by the situation. There was something different about him, as if he didn’t belong with them, just like I had always felt that I didn’t belong with my clan, not completely. We were out in the darkness of the night, the sky was grey with clouds and they was no moon and no stars. “They won’t leave it at that,” my father whispered to me.
“I know,” I answered.
“Go where you have to go, you are no longer needed here,” he said.
“Be careful,” I answered.
He pulled his swords half way out, “Always!”
