Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 235

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet? Sign up to be part of our awesome Vampire Friday blog hop team! You know you want to!

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last week.

“I don’t think I want to settle, I like it on the road, there are so many things to see and I can keep to myself and think, I don’t have cores to do, no cleaning, no cooking, I’m enjoying it very much,” she said. “You at the contrary seem to be highly washed out. Are you sure that you can actually eat human food and that you can keep so long without blood? It’s not what the books you gave me are telling me. Eating anything solid might recked your insides until it totally discompose, you don’t have the same way of taking it all out than humans have,” she continued.
“I’m fine, I have been eating human food for years and I have spent months at time without blood,” I answered.
“Then why are you so tense and startling at every single little noises, is there anything here that I didn’t notice?” she asked.
“There is nothing for you to worry about, I don’t really like fire so much,” I said.
I should have lied and told her that I was tired and lacking sleep but she might have known from the priest diaries that vampires didn’t really need so much sleep. I needed a lot more sleep when I was eating human food than when I was on blood but that was a detail she didn’t need to know. The fire was making me unable to concentrate much on my things. I couldn’t wait for the diner to finish, Irina to be in bed and to lie down away from fire and candles. I tried to resonate with myself, to tell myself that there was nothing dangerous about this fire that it was like the fire I had seen before in Sorina’s inn or at the castle, it was the nice sort of fire that I had lain down close so many times but that was not helping. I still had the vision of the fire coming to me and separating me from Sorina.
Irina poured some cider in the brown and thick goblet in front of me and put it in my hand.
“I’m scared of spiders, those things happen, nothing you can really do about it, drink this, it will make you feel better,” she said.

Thursday Fiction 229: Parallel Slip

Welcome back to a new part of Parallel Slip, where we follow the adventures of Frederique through her slip in different parallel universes.

Let's start right where we left off last week.

"It will hold," I said. "How many impact?"
"Only dust," Lieutenant Fin answer. He was in a corner and I hadn't seen him at first. All that time spent with Alex made it hard to look at him.
"The shaking is due to the fact that every asteroid we pass is pulling on us and trying to attract us in it's gravitational field," Klara said. "There is no going back, if we turn around in this area, we might be drown to one and crash, we can't control the turn and the trajectory and evade the asteroid while taking care of the gravity too."
"Don't worry Klara, just do what you have to do to get us through it, I trust you," I said.
Debby looked at me too with understanding written all over her face. I had no idea what Michelle had done to them but they still seemed to be pretty happy to see me.
I wanted to stay at the glass and to look at the asteroid and at the stars in the distance. I wonder how far we were from Antares. I knew however that my place as captain was to sit at my command board and to deal with the council member and Tucker.
"This is madness," he said.
"This is what we are doing," I said, walking back to my seat without even bothering to look at him. "There is only two things you can do. Either you help with it, or you don't interfere."
"At the contrary, I propose a change of pilot," Tucker said. "Captain I have message an order of arrest against you for endangering the lives of this crew, kidnapping the council toward unsure territory, stealing a ship from the confederation..."

Wednesday Snippet 231: Blue Angel

Welcome to a new part of Blue Angel unedited, we start right where we left off last time.

With the bump on her face, she was looking really strange.
“I was hoping for the water to somehow fall to the floor through that window out there so that I could reach it but, well that's not happening so I guess we are stuck here,” Kelpie said as if his only chance hope was gone. He had no tools to do magic and the only thing that could save him now was the arrival of the demons but they didn't seem to be anywhere near.
“But why do you need water exactly?” She asked.
“Wait a minute, can you make water bubbles with your hands?” Kelpie asked his eyes suddenly shining with a new idea.
“Of course not, that's silly,” she said laughing before holding tight to her side again.
Kelpie helped her lie back but with her large wings in her back she needed to rest on his knees to be anywhere near comfortable.
“It's not that ridiculous, I've seen people who can,” Kelpie said.
“Certainly not angels,” she answered.
“Yes, they were not angels, they were...” He stopped himself from saying demons it seems that there was only that much she could take. “How did you arrive here anyway?” He asked.

Tuesday Travel 20: Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Welcome to the first Tuesday Travel post. Every Tuesday, I will be presenting an excerpt of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire.

About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

“We are going to organize you a detox, at the sanctuary, in the Demon World,” Sahel said.
“The sanctuary has been compromised, there is no sanctuary, I'm not going to the Demon World,” Brownie said.
“That's your only option,” Sahel answered.
“I'm warning you Sahel, get the hell away from me and leave me alone,” Brownie said.
“Or what?”
“Or I'll make you,” Dylan said opening the kitchen's door but staying at the entrance.
“Seriously,” Sahel answered. He wasn't afraid of the vampire.
“If that's the only way to have her stop yelling, yes, I'll freaking bite you and drain you of your blood, I can hear you from my den. Now someone get the damn curtains before I roast in here.”
“Sorry about that,” Brownie said. She pulled on the curtains and the light in the room diminished only slightly but it was enough for Dylan to enter without being exposed to direct sunlight.
“You know, I could just open the curtains and you would have to leave us continue our conversation,” Sahel said.
“You are not having a conversation and what you thought was a conversation was already finished before it even begun. Just leave the girl alone,” Dylan said crossing the room to get to the fridge.
“We aren't finished yet,” Sahel started.
“Yes we are,” Brownie answer walking back to her cup of tea. Now that Dylan was here, she could breath a bit easier, not that the situation was any better but Sahel wouldn't get to her if she didn't want to, not in front of the vampire.
“Not in a million years,” Sahel said.
Dylan picked up a bag of blood and placed it in the microwave, he wasn't a big fan of the synthetic stuff but since they woke him up in the middle of the day, he might as well have a drink while he was at it.
