Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 441

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet? 

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.

Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

 

 

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last time.

 

I kicked the door of an inn open, waited for the noise. Nobody came. I was grateful for the dragons to have scared away most of the population.

"Get in," I said to Irina.

She looked at me a bit scared. The inn was dark but I knew it was empty for sure.

"It's just for hiding, just for a while," I said.

She entered without a word.

"Up," I said and she climbed the stairs in the dark.

"What are you doing here?"

There was a man at the top of the stairs with a peasant fork in hands.

"There is a beast outside, we were looking for a shelter, my friend has been hurt," I said.

"Get out of here," he answered.

Thursday Fiction 431: Parallel Slip 2: Rebel

Welcome back to a new Thursday Fiction, it's been a while. We continue with Parallel Slip 2: Rebel where we left of last time, following Isabelle as she figure out who she really is.

 

“You could keep the last part out, I always thought it was another personality. I have never been treated for multiple personality disorder though. Romulus never showed up for the appointment with the shrink.”

Isabelle laughed.

“You're not crazy, just manipulated from time to time.”

“Well yeah, at least he is not a complete asshole,” Eric said. “My grand-father had the same sort of problem, with Romulus's father but not anymore. The old man can't really do anything with all the pills they make him take.”

“That bad, he...”

“He had the chimney sweeper scheduled for the next day but the fire started anyway in the pipe. A lot of smoke. The fire was gone when the firemen arrived, he had taken care of it himself but they took him away anyway, on the pretext that he had inhaled too much smoke.

Wednesday Snippet 433: Fairy World 74

Welcome back to Wednesday Snippet. This week, we continue with Fairy World unedited just where we left off last week. 

 

"Here," Brownie handed her the book. "I want you to do it because if I need to find Seti, having you with me will make it easier. Also if trouble appear I'm pretty sure Evalynn will know how to handle it and get Viorel or Gideon."

"I'm not helping you," Evalynn said.

"I'm not asking for your help, just for your better judgement, if you still have some of that," Brownie said. "Now stop babbling, I need to concentrate."

She mixed the herbs and hit them until they were just a thin powder. She had some water and essential oil, the fragrance emanating from the mixture was already strong, there was no way this could fail, she already felt her mind wonder in the upper plans just by breathing in.

She left the mixture one the table and placed candles at some strategic point in the room. She was making two circles. If someone entered the room unexpectedly and broke the first circle, she needed some more securities. And she added repelling symbols on the door and windows. If someone wanted to enter, they would have to want to help her. It was just temporary for a few hours but it should give her enough time to dive and come back.

Tuesday Travel 229: Witch Raising: The Book of Earth 76

Welcome to Tuesday Travel. This week we are following Brownie on her journey as she is going toward the second element: Earth.

About Witch Raising.

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt starts right where we left off last week.

“We have to get these two out of the train and keep them hidden somehow, can you do that?”

“I can try to keep them asleep that should make them invisible,” Daphy said.

“So we are visible because we are awake.”

“Hmm,” Daphy said.

Brownie took one of the hunters by the shoulder and started pulling on him toward the door. He was a lot heavier than expected and other people's legs and arms in the wagon's corridor wasn't making it easy to move him along the way.

“You care to help,” Brownie said.

Daphy was yawning more and more it seemed it was getting more and more difficult for her not to fall asleep. Brownie wondered what kind of spell that was if Daphy couldn't even control the effect it had on herself. Daphy moved slowly and took the man's feet.
