Wednesday Snippet 407: Fairy World 48

Welcome back to Wednesday Snippet. This week, we continue with Fairy World unedited just where we left off last week.

"Do I have to remind you that you are attached to three of us?" Torsti said changing his hammer from shoulder. 

 

Isakael shrugged. 

 

"We are almost there," Kelpie said. "The castle can't be far off now." 

 

"How do you know that?" Sahel asked.

 

"It's my world, I live here, remember," Kelpie said. 

 

Sahel started to laugh, it was more of a nervous laugh than anything else.

 

"If I see Yue coming at me one more time, I think I'll go nuts, you'll have to knock me out and carry me to safety," he said. 

 

"What's the big deal between Yue and you really?" Torsti asked. "I met the guy and he was just the quiet obsessed, don't talk to me type." 

 

"He's got his soul," Isakael answered.

 

"Yue stole your soul?" Odeon said opening big eyes and looking at Sahel trying to see where the soul was missing.

Tuesday Travel 203: Witch Raising: The Book of Earth 50

Welcome to Tuesday Travel. This week we are following Brownie on her journey as she is going toward the second element: Earth.

 

 

About Witch Raising.

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt starts right where we left off last week.

“But isn't that what does a painter, or a landscape designer too?” Margarethe said.

“Oh yes, but painter have to deal with the smell of paint all the time, and I'm not even talking about the stains everywhere. My sister is a painter, nobody enters her room because it's so smelly. I can't even imagine how she can sleep in there without getting an headache. She had paint stains on her at all time some places or another. As for being a landscape designer, it's good in the spring, when the weather isn't too cold or too hot but imagine being outside taking measurements in the snow or in the middle of summer where there is no shadow, that wouldn't really work for me. I need an indoor job,” Brownie said.

“It seems that you thought it through,” Henry said. “I was going to invite you to the conference, I'm always trying to find new recruit in the field, but...”

“Oh, I would love too,” Brownie interrupted him before he even finished to withdraw his invitation.

Mystery Monday 200: Murder at the Conference 97

Hello mystery lovers and welcome to a new Mystery Monday.
I hope you had a great week-end. Here is a new little part of Murder at the Conference. Murder at the Conference is a stand alone sequel to Harajuku Kiss.

We start right were we left off last week:

 

“The fat acceptance movement is bullshit. I know you are a fan but it's still nonsensical. Yes, you have to love yourself and I truly believe that trying your best to be a better person is the best way to love yourself. If you accepted your body as it is, you wouldn't be on a diet all the time. I personally know from experience that being skinnier is going to make me happier. Because I was skinnier before. It was easier to fit in my clothes and I didn't have any problems on my legs due to chaffing every time I wore a dress or tight jeans or went for a long walk. I had a lot more energy. My mind was a lot clearer. I didn't have oily skin and hair problem. I didn't have to take a shower as soon as I went home because I didn't have all the extra sweat. And that's not even talking about the hiking and biking and sports I could do. I want to move my body and it's way easier with a smaller body. And it's not healthy to gain weight the way I have been so I'm doing the best I can to really get back in shape, and a human shape that is. I don't care if you don't want to lose weight or if you do, I'm not not taking advice from you about it because you aren't a successful example of a diet that actually works.”

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 414

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet? 

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.

Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

 

 

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last time.

 

He stopped to look at me perplex.

"That's not good enough yet, really, I can barely feel the tightness, it's supposed to hurt already and penetrate my skin before you can even start thinking about doing the job," I continued.

He tightened it a bit more. I was starting to hurt but I didn't said anything, it was mostly because of the strange fold in my shirt beneath it.

"Hum, I'm not sure it's placed correctly," I said, "It needs to encompass my shoulder blade."

He stopped again to look at Jorge. He wasn't sure what he was doing anymore, I was propagating the doubt in his head.

"Shut up and let him do his work," Jorge said.

"I'm sorry, I was just trying to help, I don't want you to waste precious time with only half perfect shots, you know the sun is going to rise soon," I said.

"Continue," Jorge said.

"Fire! Fire!" A man entered the room. "Fire in the library!"

"That's the only place worth to visit, you might want to fix it for me, I'm a little bit tight up," I said.

Jorge threw me a look filled with hatred but that was nothing I wasn't used to.
