Thursday Fiction 267: Parallel Slip

Welcome back to a new part of Parallel Slip, where we follow the adventures of Frederique through her slip in different parallel universes.

Let's start right where we left off last week.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Alex asked.
"I messed up everything," I said tears coming to my eyes.
"It's not your fault," Alex said.
"I'm not talking about Amy, I'm talking about my trips. Every time I black out, I mess up my other selves life, I make decision for them, without even consulting them."
"The way I see it, when you are over there, you have no control over where you go and all you can do is act the best you can to help people. You don't go there and mess up things on purpose. You put Amy in charge of that thing because you thought it was the right thing to do and I don't think anyone can ever blame you for that. Sometimes, I do things and I say things and then I regret because I didn't think about the consequences enough. I'm sure I could have been a better brother and I'm sure I could go there and kick Tamara's sorry ass out of Amy's room but what is the best choice? I'll never know because I can kick her ass and Amy will never talk to me again and might or not go back to Tamara behind my back. Or I can do nothing and let things happen and Amy live through her own poor choice. There is never just one answer, there are only multiple answer and the best answer is a mix of everything. Now, if you ask me I'm happy to know I'm here with you while some other me in another universe is kicking Tamara so hard she won't be able to sit for a week," Alex said laughing.
The all kicking ass sounded pretty funny.

Wednesday Snippet 269: Blue Angel

Welcome to a new part of Blue Angel unedited, we start right where we left off last time.

Kelpie tried to turn around to look at her but missed a step, his ribs were killing him. It was worse in horse shape he could feel them broken all around his torso as if the transformation had made it worse.
“Are you hurt?” Jezabel said.
“I'm alright,” Kelpie answered feeling her hand on his side.
He wanted to transform back to his human shape. It was way too painful this way but he couldn't let himself be naked in front of a girl.
The light started to glow around him out from Jezabel's hand.
“What are you doing?” he said and tried to walk away from her but he was like paralyzed.
That stupid angel was curing him again. There was definitely no end to this girl's stubbornness. She vacillated on her feet when she finished and Kelpie caught her with his body. She was wet and cold, water was dripping from her clothes and body.
“Climb back on,” Kelpie said.
“I'm ok,” She answered trying to stabilized herself on her feet.
“Damn it, climb back on, you have broken ribs,” Kelpie said.
Seeing that there was no other way, Jezabel moved her wings slowly to get on Kelpie's back, his body was warm below her. She sneezed.
“You've gonna have to learn to stop to do that,” Kelpie said.
“Do what?”
“Cure the first person hurt that you see,” Kelpie said.
Jezabel sneezed again.
“I told you I can't, that's what being an angel is all about.”
She lied down on his back, pulling on his mane again.

Tuesday Travel 58: Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Welcome to Tuesday Travel. Every Tuesday, I will be presenting an excerpt of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire, the book in which Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul, is undertaking an initiatory journey.

About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

Brownie breathed a bit more easily and took a few steps away to make sure no other arms would end up around her again. She could rise a barrier if needed but she didn't want to go through that length just to keep friendly people at a safe distance, it seemed a bit like over reacting.
Still Sandy was making her a bit jumpy. She seemed like an invasive person. Josh was pretty invasive too, talking to her at the station out of the blue and then calling her in the corridor as if they knew each other. She had never really met someone like him, ready to talk to stranger. Even her siblings, even Grenadine wasn't like that. She was loud but she wouldn't go and talk to someone she didn't know.
Brownie walked downstairs in front of the group hoping that she was going to find the entrance quickly and not be stuck in such a small space with so many people.
It was making her feel claustrophobic. She closed her eyes half a second to take a deep breath. There was nothing she could do about it. Since she was back from the cave, a lot of things seemed to have space closing around her. Of course it wasn't really true, there was enough space for all of them and even for a lot more people if needed and there was enough air too. The problem was that her mind didn't seem to understand that, no matter know much she rationalized with herself that everything was fine, that she could definitely do this and that she had nothing to fear because the cave was far gone, and she wasn't going back there. There was nothing helping. She wondered if it was part of a kind of trauma, she wouldn't be surprised. It had been so hard. She had to fix that part of herself too, she had a lot of healing to do on top of the magic.

Mystery Monday 61: Harajuku Kiss

Welcome Mystery Monday. For this weekly writing blog post, I will be presenting snippets of my novel Harajuku Kiss, a mystery romance in Japan.
I hope you'll enjoy following our heroine through her thoughts and adventures.

About Harajuku Kiss

At times, life can be so depressing. She is walking her usual recovery tour in Harajuku, finishing with a crepe, trying to forget that her boyfriend dumped her once again for the week-end... When the unthinkable happens... A boy stops in front of her in the street and kisses her, in the middle of the street, before running away.
Trying to discover more about him, she is dragged into a dangerous game of mystery. A biologist has been murdered and a deadly virus is on the loose. First suspect: the mysterious Harajuku's stranger.

Here is the snippet for this week

Compare to the Harajuku guy, my stupid-disappearing-blaming-coming-back-unable-to-know-what-he-wanted-ex-boyfriend looked pretty much like an angel. I brushed my teeth quickly and turned off the computer for the first time in weeks, as if I hated it for what it had shown me and lay back down on my futon. Seiji, the Harajuku strange and the murder, what did they have in common? Were they the same person? Why did the Harajuku guy ask me to save him? Did he think that he would be killed too? Maybe he had just taken the pictures of the murder and the murderer was after him.
