WeWriWar 327: The House at the Crossing 33

Hello everybody and welcome for a new Sunday of writing with Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday!
Let's continue with  "The House at the Crossing" and it's a prequel to Demon Soul and the demon series. It's a bit of a mix of Fantasy and Science-fiction.
It follows one of the books more obscure character as she first come into the House. It's suppose to explain why there are so many people is the house and sort of where they come from and at the same time be a first time adventure for the main character as she needs to adapt to her new role and the new version of who she is.

Let's start right at where we left off last week !

I close my eyes and shake my head from left to right before putting it in my hands and taking a few deep breathes. I feel tired. I have no idea what Teresa is talking about. She doesn't make much sense. All I feel right now is tired and half crazy and I think I'm seeing things.
“You'll adapt my dear, just like I did,” Teresa said. “If you couldn't, you wouldn't be the guardian.”
“I don't understand, I shouldn't have come here.”
I stand up again but the two other versions of me stay sitting like they agree to this. I search inside of me for a part of me that wouldn't be distress by this but I can't find any. This place is doing something to me and I'm sure I don't like it. I believe I don't like it, I think I don't like it. I don't know, I just... sit back.

Normandie: Étretat (with video)

I always wanted to go to Étretat, since I was a kid, because of a song from Pierre Bachelet called Étretat. So when I saw that it was possible to go during the conference weekend with a tour group, I decided to go. I was not disappointed. The cliffs were really beautiful. It was just too bad that we couldn't walk the whole length of them because we were on restricted time. We still walked around the city a bit and up to an old church.

Here is the video.

Here is the song.

And here are some pictures

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 272

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet? Sign up to be part of our awesome Vampire Friday blog hop team! You know you want to!

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last week.

I woke up feeling the strong perfume of lavender in my nostril. I didn’t remember going back to my bed or even taking of my clothes. I remembered nothing but the memory the philosopher stone had given back to me and writing them in my diary. My little notebook was still on the table where I left it and the ink at dried in the plate, I hadn’t bothered cleaning my pen apparently. I felt that I was becoming lazy. When I first traveled alone, I was in a rush but being sedentary with Nicolas and Perenelle had taken the best of me. I yawned and realized that my hand was tightly closed around the philosopher stone. I stretched out my arms and looked at it. There was a little hole in the handkerchief which I had used to get my memory back. I wondered if I should use it once more this morning about decided against it. I didn’t remember my dreams. Irina’s blood effects seemed to be drawing away, I heard my stomach crumble, I was hungry for human food. The thought was still a bit repulsive but my body, probably after vomiting so much was thinking otherwise. I washed my face and dressed up wondering if Irina was already awake. The sun had already rose, I luckily even with my memory back I didn’t have to be afraid of the sun as I had left the curtains open. I cleaned my brushed and gathered my belongings ready to leave. I made sure that I didn’t forgot anything and hit the door.
I knocked at Irina’s door and got no answer. I knocked a bit louder and still nothing moved inside. I turned to key in the lock, it was rusty and grated a bit. The door moved by itself and I pushed it inward. Irina was still sleeping. She had her clothes still on, which was strange as she had taken a hot bath the night before and should have been undressed since. She was breathing really slowly. I came closer and took her pulse, it was back low and her face was really pale showing out freckles I had never noticed before. Her skin was moist with cold.
“Irina! Wake up!” I started shaking her softly.
“What’s wrong?” She moaned hoping her eyes.

Thursday Fiction 262: Parallel Slip

Welcome back to a new part of Parallel Slip, where we follow the adventures of Frederique through her slip in different parallel universes.

Let's start right where we left off last week.

She laughed.
"Because I'm not like you. I tried for a weekend, I really read that stuff. It was boring as hell. I can't do it and the truth is you can't do it either and you are just lying to yourself if you think you can just because you weren't part of the drop out this time around," she said.
"But you looked so happy studying with me and you said you loved organic chemistry," I said.
"That couldn't be right," Alex answered.
"There is no way to learn all this by studying, there is no way to ever get the exams right this way," Amy said.
"You truly believe that, don't you," Alex shook his head.
"But why? Why would you trade whatever they ask from you against something you don't care about?" I asked.
"Oh I care about my grades, I care that now my parents thing I'm the good kids, finally, I care that I can go meet dad's clients and that they are proud of me. And I care that I'll get a good job out of it."
"And they'll fire you because you can't do it, because cheating doesn't give you any knowledge," I said.
"That's where you're wrong, the only difference between you and me when we graduate will be that I would look fantastic because I have time to care for myself and you'll look like you're 35 and are already exhausted," Amy said.
My jaw dropped. I didn't know what I could answer to that, if she wanted to look for space dinosaurs, that was no joke.
"You can't mean this," I said.
