Mystery Monday 47: Harajuku Kiss

Welcome Mystery Monday. For this weekly writing blog post, I will be presenting snippets of my novel Harajuku Kiss, a mystery romance in Japan.
I hope you'll enjoy following our heroine through her thoughts and adventures.

About Harajuku Kiss

At times, life can be so depressing. She is walking her usual recovery tour in Harajuku, finishing with a crepe, trying to forget that her boyfriend dumped her once again for the week-end... When the unthinkable happens... A boy stops in front of her in the street and kisses her, in the middle of the street, before running away.
Trying to discover more about him, she is dragged into a dangerous game of mystery. A biologist has been murdered and a deadly virus is on the loose. First suspect: the mysterious Harajuku's stranger.

Here is the snippet for this week

I turned the memory stick between my left hand fingers trying to finish my yogurt at the same time. Japanese yogurt are small, and I had already finished eating before I noticed that my spoon kept on coming back empty. The least I could do was to have a look at this memory stick. I opened up my phone to check the clock, four in the morning and I didn’t sleep much. I also noticed that I didn’t receive text messages from my ex-boyfriend either.

It’s time consuming to be obsessed with the text messages from a guy who doesn't send any. I was scared of missing them or of not hearing the phone tone or that something bad had happened to him, because of course otherwise he would have texted me without fail... in my dreams.

WeWriWar 318: The House at the Crossing 23

Hello everybody and welcome for a new Sunday of writing with Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday!

I decided to change things a little bit so for the next few months, I'm going to present you my new WIP. It's called "The House at the Crossing" and it's a prequel to Demon Soul and the demon series. It's a bit of a mix of Fantasy and Science-fiction.
It follows one of the books more obscure character as she first come into the House. It's suppose to explain why there are so many people is the house and sort of where they come from and at the same time be a first time adventure for the main character as she needs to adapt to her new role and the new version of who she is.

Since it's a WIP, and I still haven't finished the first draft, it's still really row. Hopefully, we'll see some improvement as it goes.

Let's start right at where we left off last week!

We look at each other, we are identical, just the same, not like the other versions of me who are sort of me but with a twist. We bring our fingers next to each other and I can feel the tingling of electricity between us. It doesn't snap like it did with the other version of me earlier.
We are mirroring each other and I suddenly have a thought that isn't mine, but is still mine at the same time, because it's hers and she is me and then she slides towards me and we are one again. And she wanted more vanilla than lavender in her tea, that's what she hoped for but I wanted the opposite but now, I somehow want the same amount of both and I'm just me.
I look at the other wondering how different their thoughts are. What do they want? What are their memories like.

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 261

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet? Sign up to be part of our awesome Vampire Friday blog hop team! You know you want to!

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last week

“But you have never experienced them, you have never felt the excitement of traveling, you have never tasted the blood enriched with foreign food, you have never smelt the night of Constantinople, Moscow or Alexandria. This young vampire, he is just like you but he has so much more experience of life, so much more to live for,” he said. “Viorel, if you have the chance, I want you to go with them, to travel with those vampires to learn their language and others to see the world with your own house. You can’t spend all eternity in this castle, the world around use evolves all the time, the humans change, they become more knowledgeable and powerful, I fear that in time our reign will end and those vampires must feel it too, the reign of the humans is coming and we will have to hide, I want you to be ready, I want you to prepare for the day when I won’t be there anymore.”
“What are you saying? You are not going to die anytime soon,” I said nervously laughing.
I didn’t like vampire talking about their own death it was making me feel like the world was going to end. I never thought about the possibility that anything will change, it had been the same for so long, even when the other vampires arrived I had just taken it like something that wouldn’t last, they could stay or leave, I had Sorina, my family, the race as a wolf in the forest, I didn’t need anything else.
“You need to grow up, you need to find yourself and you can’t do it here,” he said.
“You know it’s forbidden to leave, that if I ever leave this place I can never come back that it I come back they would kill me,” I said.
“I know but that doesn’t matter anymore, and I doubt it ever did, I was just foolish to think about the possibility of eternal peace and easy blood, you saw what happened at the meeting today, they are not never going to let go, not that other chief, not your uncle, it will be settled in blood and I need to think about your future,” He said. “You will have to take the girl and run for your life and the future of the clan.”
“But I want to fight with you,” I said.

Thursday Fiction 255: Parallel Slip

Welcome back to a new part of Parallel Slip, where we follow the adventures of Frederique through her slip in different parallel universes.

Image by Colin Behrens from Pixabay
Let's start right where we left off last week.

"I said I'm not asking you..."
"Before that, what did you call me?" Alex said.
"I... I don't know.... I..." this was working, he had a reaction to it. "I said Fin, didn't I? I'm sorry."
"How do you know that name?" he asked.
He was clenching his fist on the wheel and his fingers were turning all white out of it. I didn't know what was wrong with the name but I wasn't sure anymore that having this conversation in the car was a good idea, still, I didn't have much choices.
"That's your name, in the other universe," I said.
"You've gotta be kidding me," he said.
He turned left. I didn't know what to answer to that so I stayed silent and looked through the window. He knew the name just like I knew I could be called Frederique or Michelle. Thinking about it, I didn't know Lieutenant Fin's given name, even with all my trips to that particular universe, I had no idea, maybe he was even Alex there. This was crazy. The houses were passing through in front of me. We had reached the city and we'll soon be at the university. Then I would go to my room and forget about everything I had told Alex. There was no way anyone would ever believe me unless they could see the other universes for themselves. At least, in this universe. I wondered how my father had managed to convince Debby and Klara. If it had been easy for him because they trusted him with their life or if he had struggled. Regardless, it had worked for me too, in that other universe, they knew who I was every time I entered Michelle's body and they didn't even mind. Maybe getting into a coma wouldn't be such a bad thing, maybe I could stay over their with Fin and the girls.
Alex park the car on campus near to our building. He was still clenching at the wheel when I opened my door.
"Wait!" He said. "I believe you, all of it."
"What?"
"All of it, the trip at the black out, the parallel universe, all of it, I believe you."
I didn't know what to say because that was unexpected.
